Lebanon is located about an hour northeast of Springfield, Missouri. Even though the area is a good distance away from the major cities in Missouri, Lebanon still deals with its fair share of homeless animals. Fortunately, Lebanon is home to a couple of shelters that provide care and food to these animals as they wait for new families.
The Lebanon Humane Society recently opened a new shelter facility that is more than 4,500 sqft. and includes 28 indoor and outdoor dog runs where dogs are free to come and go as they wish while always being protected from the weather. This new shelter provides sanctuary for hundreds of animals each year. The Lebanon Humane Society has been helping animals in the area since 1984.
Lebanon Claws and Paws is a non-profit animal shelter that provides care for homeless animals in the area. As a limited admission shelter, Lebanon Claws and Paws strives for a 100 percent adoption rate of the animals that it takes into its shelter facility without euthanizing animals to create space for new strays or after a specific time limit. The group also helps to educate the public about pet overpopulation and the importance of spaying and neutering companion animals. In order to prevent more cases of animal abuse, the organization helps educate the public on proper pet care.
If you live in the Lebanon area and are looking for a new pet, consider a visit to one of these animal shelters to find a new furry friend to call your own.
