Hi I'm Katy! I love all things circus and performance art; in my spare time you can usually find me at the Voler School for Aerial Arts. I love fitness, nutrition and trying to stay active as often as I can! While I'm quite sociable with humans, I'm generally most excited when there's a dog to meet ;) Each pooch is unique, and I love getting to know each one. The subtleties of their diverse personalities is my favorite part of getting to spend time with them, I can't wait to meet yours!!

Hello, I am Cindy and I love dogs. All kinds of dogs. I am retired and decided I want to walk other peoples dogs since both my lovers died this year of old age. I miss having a dog around very much but want to do some travelling right now. I would love the chance to spoil your dogs rotten just like I used to do mine. For the past 6 years, I have spent many hours a day helping shelter dogs get relocated out of Kentucky (where the animal protection laws are the worst in the nation).

“Best walking partner for your furry friend!”
Hello, I'm Sasha and I've grown up with dogs all my life. I've had large dogs and small dogs; I love them all equally! I've also taken care of neighbors and friends dogs when they had been out of town. Dogs make exercising more exciting! Playing ball and tug-o-war is just as fun!

I grew up with a rotating cast of cats and a dog, all of whom I helped to feed, walk, and play with. Furthermore, my childhood neighborhood was full of families with dogs, giving me extra opportunities to socialize and help care for some canine friends. Since the summer of 2016, I have been volunteering with a local animal shelter, where I walk dogs and help to socialize them. I am excited to be a part of Wag! and I can't wait to get to know you and your furry pal.

Hey! I'm Cameron, a lifelong dog lover and transplant from the South. I've been living in Kansas City for almost 3 years and I've grown to love and appreciate this city. I love getting outdoors with my own dogs, but sometimes they can't keep up. So I thought it would take this opportunity with Wag to meet more people and pups and learn more about Kansas City.

Lee’s Summit, Missouri, is a suburb of Kansas City. Situated near the border of Kansas and Missouri, Lee’s Summit is home to numerous displaced and homeless animals. To keep these animals off of the streets, animal shelters work hard to capture, care for, and find homes for homeless animals in the area. The Lee’s Summit Animal Shelter and Wayside Waifs are two shelters in the area that help these animals in their time of need.
The Lee’s Summit Animal Shelter works in conjunction with the Animal Control Department of the city to bring homeless animals into a safer environment. With proper shelter and care, these animals are given a second chance. Animals that come into the Lee’s Summit Animal Shelter will be provided food and medical care, before being placed up for adoption. The shelter is large enough to hold 72 dogs and 71 cats at any given time, with other cages for small mammals and wild animals as well.
Wayside Waifs is the largest no-kill animal shelter in the Kansas City area. The shelter was established in 1944 and has provided shelter, food, and care for animals in the Kansas City area ever since. As a non-profit organization, Wayside Waifs relies heavily on donations from the public, as well as fundraisers and adoption fees. Wayside Waifs also runs a members-only dog park, which helps provide funds as well.
If you live in the Lee’s Summit area and are looking for a new pet, consider visiting one of these shelters to find a new furry friend.
Bring your dog to Kansas City’s largest doggie 3k walk and 5k run event to help Wayside Waifs raise money! Each fall, dogs help other dogs by raising money during the Strutt With Your Mutt event on Brookside Boulevard. Before the race, you can fundraise and gather donations to help animals in need. On the day of the event, lace up your running shoes and leash up your pup for either of the race events!
Strutt With Your Mutt allows you to register as an individual or a team. Both adults and children are allowed to register for the Strutt With Your Mutt race.
When summer comes to a close, gift your dog with a swimming party full of fun at Summit Waves in Lee’s Summit! This off-leash party will give your canine a chance to play with other local dogs and get some good exercise in at the same time. Pooch Paddle reserves 5:30 pm to 6 pm for dogs under 25 pounds to swim. Dogs over 25 pounds have swim time from 6:15 pm to 7:15 pm.
For this event, humans aren’t permitted to swim with their dogs. Each dog requires a $5 admission fee and must be current on rabies and all other vaccines as required by law. Aggressive dogs will not be allowed into the event.
For 25 years, Dogtober Fest has been held in Blue Springs, Missouri for pups and their owners! During Dogtober Fest, participate in free contests and games with your pooch, including Bobbing for Biscuits, a Biscuit Eating Contest, Musical Frisbees, a Costume Contest, and contests for both the biggest and smallest dog. You can also browse through vendor booths and watch demonstrations from police dogs, search and rescue dogs, agility dogs, and more!
Admission is free with a donation of dog food, which will benefit local animal shelters via the Dog Food Drive.
Each October, Halloween rolls around, and that means that Boos, Barks and Badges Halloween Parade is happening at Downtown Lee’s Summit! From 9 am to 1 pm, you and your dog can enjoy all kinds of fun. Wear a costume and dress up your pup to celebrate Halloween in style. From 9 to 10, there will be a costume contest. At 10 am, the parade begins at City Hall Plaza! After the parade wraps up, be sure to trick-or-treat at participating stores in the Downtown area.
The costume contest includes awards for best group, most unique, favorite boy, favorite girl, and favorite pet.
Admission is free as is parking. Attendees may park in the City Hall Parking Garage.
Local restaurant Chicken N Pickle hosts its first Wayside Waifs Wednesday event of the year in January, from 4 pm to 7 pm. Adoptable puppies will be on-site from 5 to 7 looking for new homes, so bring your current dog to maybe meet their new best friend! During the event, there will be pet-related vendors available with different products and services for sale. A percentage of food and beverage sales will go toward helping animals at Wayside Waifs.
These events will repeat the first Wednesday of every month through the year. You won’t want to miss out on the fun to be had each month at Chicken N Pickle!
