Courtney was great! My dog has separation anxiety & is usually freaking out when I get home after being gone all day. But this time, she was calm and happy. She clearly loved Courtney!

Sheana came through when I was in a pinch. I needed someone to let the dogs out because I was stuck in traffic in the mountains. She responded last minute and had excellent communication. She’s the best!

It was our first time leaving Skittles with a sitter, and Daniel did a great job of assuaging our fears! He was super communicative and made sure we knew that Skittles was in good hands. Highly recommend!

Kelli was awesome boarding my two dogs. Not only did she give daily updates with videos and pictures she also worked with them on introducing them to her cat and getting used to her big dogs. Can't recommend enough!

Pet Photos with Santa

Everyone likes to tell Santa what they want for Christmas! This year, let your dog join in on the fun with the Pet Photos with Santa event. Dogs will get a photograph taken with Santa by Baer Photography, a local photography company.

This fun event is held each December at the local Hilltop Mall in Kearney. As always, humans are also welcome to participate in the festive Christmas photos with St. Nicholas! Photos can be taken with or without dogs.

Photos take place from 4 pm to 7 pm on a Thursday in December, which gives you enough time to make these into festive Christmas cards!

Puppy Plunge

Give your pup one last chance to get in a good swim each summer at the annual Puppy Plunge event. Join the Kearney Area Animal Shelter at Centennial Pool in Kearney for an evening of swimming and splashing about with local dogs looking for a fun dip in the pool.

Time slots are divided up by dog size, so small and large dogs each have their own swimming times to keep everyone as safe as possible. Small dogs can swim from 5:30 pm to 7 pm, while large dogs take over from 7 pm to 8:30 pm.

Proceeds from this event benefit the Kearney Area Animal Shelter and the Kearney Dog Park. Admission is just $8 per dog.

Adults can participate for $25 each. Admission for children is $15. Proceeds benefit the Kearney Area Animal Shelter.

Drool in the Pool

Each September, the Cody Park Swimming Pool becomes a playground for all the pooches in the area! The Drool in the Pool event is a great time for local dogs to splash and swim in the water before the pool closes for the fall season.

Unlike many other doggy swimming events, the Drool in the Pool is a multi-day event that allows for dogs to swim as often as their owners can make it.

From 5 pm to 7 pm on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday of the first full week of September, dogs are welcome to swim. Then, the following Saturday, the dogs can swim from 10:30 am to 3 pm.

Admission is just $1 per dog.

Cottonmill-Fort Kearney Trail

For a fun adventure with your dog, head over to the Cottonmill-Fort Kearney Trail. As one of 1,600 rail-trails supported by Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, this trail is a former rail line that has been transformed into a beautiful walk, biking, and skating trail! There is also a playground area and finish spots along the trail.

This trail is paved with concrete, which makes it easier to traverse for people and animals of all abilities.

This is a really long trail that runs almost 13 miles! There are endpoints from the trail in Cottonmill Park and at the Great Platte River Archway Monument.
