Give a Wag! Gives to North Bergen Shelters

Bergan County Protect and Rescue is North Bergan County NJ's largest pet rescue center and is located in Cliffside Park, NJ. They are a 100% no-kill animal shelter and they formed back in 2012 from the efforts of the county's animal control agency and a group of concerned citizens.

This shelter was born from the heartache that came from the local animal control team's need to take unwanted and abandoned animals and surrender them to vet clinics or kill shelters with no idea what their ultimate destination would be. Therefore, Protect and Rescue's main mission is to rehome as many lost and/or unwanted animals as they can into loving, happy, and healthy homes.

This shelter fully relies on volunteers and donations to keep their animals cared for, so they depend on community help, donations, and fundraisers to save these animals lives. They hold many community adoption events throughout the year, host a variety of fundraisers like Yankee Candle Sales and Clay & Sip art classes, and encourage community members to volunteer at the shelter when they can.

Focas is another local animal rescue that works in conjunction with the Bergan County Animal Shelter. They are responsible for providing medical care to animals, coordinating volunteer services, and they have welfare programs for animals that surpass the basic services that the Bergan County Animal Shelter can provide. They help these animals during all stages of their lives and help them find their optimal forever home. Focas is an all-volunteer based program, so they are reliant on the community for donations and help. They host many adoption events at local pet stores all throughout the year an do annual events as well, like their annual cat and dog shows to help support focas and other local animal shelters.
