For many people though, this has nothing to do with the glitz and glam, but rather, the pet-friendly atmosphere Vegas is building up. Though it's considered the City of Lights, it's on its way to being the city of pups, with the dog population climbing every day!

Las Vegas may be crawling with casinos, live shows and bars, but it also hosts a booming pawpulation of dog lovers, animal charities, shelters, and non-profits that support pups.

One of the most popular, The Animal Foundation of Las Vegas, is the highest volume single-site animal shelter in the United States! This foundation claims they're dedicated to making a difference in the lives of the animals in the Las Vegas Valley. Offering adoption, lost pet services, and low-cost procedures, the staff at the Foundation have worked tirelessly since its inception in 1978 to take in every animal that's brought through their doors.

Another popular organization is the Nevada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. A no-kill animal sanctuary that operates as a non-profit, this organization provides educational programs, makes referrals for low-cost medical procedures, and does its best to locate the right guardians for companion animals in their care.

#1 Las Vegas Pride Pets Festival

If there's anything Las Vegas doesn't mess around with, it's their annual Pride Festival, and they make sure not to leave anyone out - even the pups! Every year, the Las Vegas Pride Festival takes place in Sunset Park with a specially designated pet-friendly area for you and your four-legged friend. Here, you'll find hundreds of pet-friendly exhibitors, play areas, training tips, and live entertainment!

The best part? Though there's a special area just for the doggos, well-behaved, leashed pups are welcome throughout the festival so you won't miss a thing. Admission is $15 for adults at this annual event, and although the exact date hasn't been announced for 2018, it's sure to be established soon. Don't miss out on this exciting, pup-filled, Pride day!

#2 Pet-a-Palooza

This is the annual Vegas-Pup-Event you won't want to miss! Bring your doggo down to Sunset Park for the annual Pet-a-Palooza to celebrate your love for your pooch. The event is free and includes exciting entertainment like dog luring courses, extreme games of fetch, booths and vendors specifically tailored to your pup, and so much more!

Come down with your fluffy-friend for a day of pawesome live music, food, and best of all, local pups!

#3 Fast & Furriest Festival

Rev those puppy paws for the annual Fast & Furriest 5k! You and your puppy pal won't want to miss out on this day of fun that benefits the Animal Foundation of Las Vegas. Join the masses at Sunset Park to participate or just to watch people and their pooches walk or run their way through the 5k run or 1-mile walk. The festival also includes a barketplace vendor area, a beer garden, food trucks, activities, adoptable pets, costume contests, and more! The event itself is free, but if you and your speedy, slobbery pup want to join in the run, you'll pay a $20-$30 fee!

#4 Vegas Pet Expo

If you and your pet love to shop till you drop, the Annual Vegas Pet Expo is the event for you! Take your doggo with you to this weekend-long expo that's jam-packed with tons of exhibitors selling puppy products, fabulous prize giveaways (for both you and your pup), a mega-adoption event, discounted vaccinations, and live entertainment! This huge event is held at the World Market Center and is admission free! Remind your pup to be polite when meeting the bunches of other bow-wows in attendance.

#5 Dog Parks Galore

Luckily enough, Las Vegas is packed with more than just casinos. It's also home to dozens of pawesome dog parks, too! There are tons of regular options to choose from, including Barkin' Basin Dog Park, Dog Fancier's Park and Sunset Dog Park. But in Vegas fashion, there are some niche parks, too, including the Hydrant Club. This membership only dog park is for those who want the exclusive experience, charging a flat fee and requiring approval for pups who attend, checking to ensure that dogs are screened for vaccines and behavioral issues. If that fancy-niche is something your pup would turn his nose up at, never fear, other options like Desert Breeze Dog Park and Centennial Hills Dog Park exist, too!
