Much of the doggo-friendly vibes come from the shelters that service the Bronx and the rest of New York City. One of the biggest shelters, the Humane Society of New York, services the Bronx and is one of the largest no-kill shelters in the area! Open every day of the week, this organization has swung its doors wide for pups for the last 100 years, offering them care, veterinary services, spay and neuter services, and fostering options.
A bit more zeroed in and focused on the Bronx is the Humane Society of Westchester, a non-profit, 501(C)3 organization that acts as a no-kill shelter. They offer services for animal population control, compassionate care, and public education.
If you are in the area and would like to expand your fur family, come check out either of these shelters and see if you fall in love!
If you and your pup are looking for a way to show your appreciation for one of your favorite parks in the city, you won't want to miss out on the annual My Dog Loves Central Park County Fair! This event is open to people and doggos of all ages and features fun games, crafts, vendors, treats, and competitions that your pup can participate in. Enjoy this day-long event with your pooch - you may even be able to win the Best in Park Competition! Don't forget to take home a free goody bag filled with delicious dog treats!
