Happy Dog Rescue is an all volunteer-all foster, multi-state adoption and animal rescue network. The organization began back in 2003 with just a handful of volunteers in Memphis, Tennessee. They expanded their rescue efforts all over the Southeast and into the Northeast of the country. The rescue has two headquarters of operation - Germantown, Tennesee and White Plains, New York. Since its meager beginnings, the Happy Dog Rescue has since saved over 4000 dogs all over the country!
Happy Dog Rescue is here to assist and aid all injured, abandoned neglected, abused, stray, hungry, old, sick and abused dogs throughout the south. They do this without bars or cages - each dog in the program is fostered at a safe and loving foster home. By utilizing fosters over having a physical brick and mortar shelter, Happy Dog Rescue can guarantee more one-on-one time with a foster family to each dog.
The dogs become more socialized in a quiet and less frantic environment than they would at a busy, over-crowded and noisy shelter. They also learn valuable skills from their foster families and become introduced to other pets, kids and environments. They also receive extra cuddles and treats and learn what it means to truly be part of a family that loves them. Sadly, this a feeling many of the dogs have never felt before. The foster families also take note of their foster pup's likes and dislikes, temperament, and even their favorite toy for when a potential adoptive parent calls them with questions.
The different states' organizations work together to rescue and transport these dogs all over the south and the northeast. They do this every Saturday through USDA-certified professional transport carriers. This is definitely a very dedicated and selfless group! The dogs are transported to cities in Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut and New York. Before the dogs get transported to their new foster and fur-ever homes, they see a veterinarian where they receive any and all care they need, get microchipped and are spayed/neutered.
