Give a Wag! Gives to Akron Shelters

One of a Kind Pet Rescue, founded in 2005 has a mission and that mission is:  "To save the lives of  animals in imminent danger of euthanasia and enrich the lives of people through rescue, spaying/neutering, adoption, and advocacy on behalf of homeless pets." Looking for a new furry friend?  Come on in!  Before every little fur friend joins their new forever family, they are spayed/neutered, tested for disease, receive all vaccinations and are microchipped.

One of a Kind Pet Rescue also has a low-cost clinic to assist pet parents in getting their beloved pets much-needed veterinarian care at a discounted price. Any pet in the community can be seen at the clinic for spaying/neutering as long as they are over 8 weeks of age and weigh more than 2 pounds.  They also offer low-cost vaccinations, heartworm tests, microchipping and flea and tick preventatives.

If you are looking for a feel-good, selfless volunteer opportunity, stop by the rescue and lend them a hand; it will be appreciated more than you know! You can also become a foster parent for the adoptable babies, a dog walker, cat and dog socialization volunteer (fancy talk for playing with, brushing and spoiling the furry ones) or, if you are a runner and would love some company, the high-energy dogs need their exercise too. Endless volunteer opportunities exist so give them a call!

Parts of the trail are in the original tow-path where mules would actually tow boats from 1827 to 1913.  Along your way, you will be surrounded by nature, greenery and possibly some wildlife like squirrels, deer, birds or raccoons.  Don't forget to stay hydrated and be a responsible pet parent and pick up after your dog.
