Sandusky Farmer's Market
In the mood for some fresh, local produce and fruits, maybe even some homemade jams, jellies or syrups? Bring the whole family (including a well-behaved leashed Fido or Fifi) and stroll along the many vendors set up to display their yummy goodies at the Sandusky Farmer's Market! Other products for sale are beeswax products, cut flowers, homemade pies and honey. The Farmer's Market is located at the corner of Hancock and Market and runs from June through October on Saturdays from 8:00 am to noon.36
Pickerel Creek Wildlife area
Ahhhh! Fresh air and the great outdoors - there is nothing like it! If you and your family need a touch of both, head up to Pickerel Creek Wildlife Area located in Sandusky County! Your furry friend can even join you for your adventures if they stay in your control on their non-retractable leash and you clean up any messes they may leave behind. Now the day just got even better - fresh air, the great outdoors and time with your pooch! Make sure to take your camera in case you spot a deer!24
Ugly Christmas Sweater 5K Run and Walk
You are going to want to mark your calendars for this event (that takes place in early December) because it is a great, family-friendly, dog-friendly good time! You just need to bring a new unwrapped toy or non-perishable food item to participate - oh and the ugliest Christmas sweater you can find! The toys will be distributed by area churches and the food items will benefit the Gibsonburg Food Pantry. So come on down and participate or cheer on your friends, family and neighbors with your furry friend! On your mark, get set - give!12
Creek Bend Farm and Nature Center
The weather outside isn't really that frightful so why not head on out for a little family fun with ma, pa, the kiddos and your well-behaved, leashed doggo at Creek Bend Farm! Visitors are welcome Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 to 5:00. (Please note, The Nature Center will be closed from December 23rd to January 7th for the holiday.) Bundle up and go for a family hike (make sure to clean up after your pet), let the kids participate in some arts and crafts, catch up with old friends and enjoy your time together during the chilly season! Creek Bend Farm is located in nearby Lindsey, Ohio, Sandusky County.
Run and Race at Cedar Point
If you live anywhere near Sandusky, Ohio, you know all about the family amusement park, Cedar Point. Did you also know you could participate in an annual half-marathon each year in June held at the park? There is a 5K and a 1-mile run one day and a quarter-and half-marathon the next. Prizes are awarded to the faster woman and man in each race. Did we mention you can bring your own cheering section, including your leashed doggie? Not a runner? Cheer for runners with the hundreds of other supporters. Mark your calendars for June and get ready to have some fun!
