Mill Creek MetroParks Farm

Beginning in 1910, this property served as the Mahoning County Experimental Farm, which was managed by The Ohio State University until 1990.  Since then, Mill Creek MetroPark has taken over and expanded all of the educational programs and recreational facilities into a 402-acre working farm.  Spend the day here learning about agriculture, animals and the history of the farm itself. The staff asks that you do not feed the animals as they are on a regimented daily feeding schedule, that you do not put your hand near the animals mouths and that you monitor your children at all time and do not let them climb or play on the gates or animal enclosures.  Be sure to wash your hands after visiting with the animals and if the barn doors are closed, please leave them closed.

METROMUTTS: Pet First Aid

Every pet parent needs this class!  Our fur babies are family and when they are ill or limping or showing signs of discomfort, we need to be able to soothe their pain.  This event is presented by dog trainer Katie Costello from The Canine Campus Training and Wellness Center and veterinarian Dr. Sam Costello. This is a PEOPLE only event so leave your pets at home. All participants will receive a pet first aid kit. The cost is $5.00 for MetroMutts members and $10.00 for not-yet members.

Aim High K9

Presents for Paws

Presents for Paws takes place in nearby Mineral Ridge, Ohio at Sit Means Sit Mahoning and Steel Valley.  Admission is free!  Let your dog get his picture taken with Santa Paws and whisper his gift list to the big guy!  Come on in for a great picture and a chance for gift baskets and much more!  Sit Means Sit provides in-home training, private lessons, group classes, puppy management and training programs for Fido and his people. They specialize in off-leash control of your pet, despite any distraction that surrounds them. All proceeds from this event will benefit local pet rescues such as Friends of Fido, Animal Pawtectors, Close to Home, TNR and Paw Platoon.

Northside Farmer's Market

This pet-friendly farmer's market runs May through October.  Leash up your furry pal and go shopping for some of the area's freshest fruits and veggies, local jams and honeys, meats, home-baked breads and sweets. Local farmers and vendors set up booths up and down the strip; grab some lunch, a candy apple, some farm fresh eggs, potatoes, nuts, fresh herbs, pumpkins - if it can be baked or grown, chances are, you will find it here in abundance.  Be sure to bring your own reusable shopping bag for your goodies!  Be a good pet parent and ALWAYS clean up after your pet.  BONEappetite!
