Give a Wag! Gives to Youngstown Shelters

Legacy Dog Rescue of Ohio is a 501(3)(C) rescue that is dedicated to helping dogs in the Mahoning and Trumball county and surrounding areas.  They do what they do, motivated by love for all dogs that have been in their lives. All animal lovers first became animals lovers due to "the one" - that one furry little soul - that stole their heart long ago. It is, perhaps, in their memory, that we, as animal lovers, stay hooked and dedicated to ensuring that ALL furry little souls are loved.

Legacy Dog Rescue has two main purposes; rescue and community service. The rescue takes dogs from bad, hopeless situations and places them in loving foster homes where they learn being a dog ain't always so bad!  The rescue's spay/neuter program helps reduce the number of potential dogs that could be sent to a high-kill shelter, abused or worse; it preempts that possibility.  The rescue also has a food assistance program to help pet parents feed their pets when money is an issue.

Legacy Dog Rescue has many furry friends you can call your own, so please visit their website. The rescue is always looking for volunteers and foster families to further their valiant efforts to place all animals in a loving, furever home.  They gladly accept donations of money, food, cleaning supplies, bowls, leashes, collars, bedding and gas cards (to transport the dogs). What a wonderful world it will be when all the fur babies are in a loving home.  Help make Legacy Dog Rescue of Ohio's dream come true.  Love your pooch and advocated for those still in need.

Upcoming Dog Friendly Events in Youngstown

  • Admission FREE!

    #1 Mill Creek MetroParks Farm

Beginning in 1910, this property served as the Mahoning County Experimental Farm, which was managed by The Ohio State University until 1990.  Since then, Mill Creek MetroPark has taken over and expanded all of the educational programs and recreational facilities into a 402-acre working farm.  Spend the day here learning about agriculture, animals and the history of the farm itself. The staff asks that you do not feed the animals as they are on a regimented daily feeding schedule, that you do not put your hand near the animals mouths and that you monitor your children at all time and do not let them climb or play on the gates or animal enclosures.  Be sure to wash your hands after visiting with the animals and if the barn doors are closed, please leave them closed.

    #3 Aim High K9

Aim High K9 provides inboard training at their heated kennels with large indoor and outdoor runs.  What is inboard training?  You leave your pup with the trainers for a few weeks and after they are probably trained, you come and pick them up.  It is sort of like doggy basic training.  They will teach your pooch that whoever gives them the command to come, sit or stay, they will come, sit or stay, no matter what distractions are happening around them.  If your dog is a barker, a biter or doesn't listen, Aim High K9's trainers have a humane program that will work.  Their training comes with a LIFETIME guarantee so what do you have to lose.  If your little pup needs a little manner tuneup, Aim High K9 is ready to help!  They want you and your pup to live happily together.  Give them a call and let them show you what they can do for you and your pup!
