Dog-N-Jog at Mitch Park
Each November, the YMCA of Greater Oklahoma City partners with Three Dog Bakery Oklahoma and Red Coyote Running and Fitness in Edmond to bring Dog-N-Jog at Mitch Park to both the humans and dogs of the area. Only a few minutes from Norman, load up your dog and lace up your shoes for this fun running event.
Every registrant will receive a t-shirt and a swag bag with goodies and discounts for both humans and dogs. Vendors and adoptable dogs will also be on-site for you to meet with.
Registration is $20 per person. All proceeds go toward improving Edmond Dog Parks.

Ghost Runners 5k Dog Run
Join Heartland Weimaraner Rescue at Lake Hefner in Oklahoma City each October for the Ghost Runners 5k Dog Run. This event includes the run, vendor booths, kids’ activities, food, and more! You and your whole family won’t want to miss out on the fun activities at the park between 10 am and 3 pm. Don’t forget to stop by the adoptable animals at the event! You just may fall in love with another furry friend.
Registration prices will be released closer to the event date. Heartland Weimaraner Rescue will also be accepting donations at the event.

Second Chance’s Dog Day Afternoon
Second Chance Animal Sanctuary’s Annual Dog Day Afternoon event is a local favorite for Norman residents. Spanning from 10 am to 5 pm, there are so many activities that you and your dog can partake in! Head over to Andrews Park every September for this fun event that includes demonstrations, competitions, and more.
The event includes a Dog Walk, as well! Registration for the Dog Walk is $25 and includes a t-shirt. Don’t forget to visit vendor booths and the concessions area for food and drinks. There will also be a silent auction and raffles.
Low-cost vaccinations, microchipping, and nail trimming will also be available at the event.

Dogs Helping Dogs
April means that the annual Dogs Helping Dogs event is back in Norman! Enjoy the day with your dog at Norman Community Dog Park and Sutton Nature Trail. Browse vendor booths, participate in the silent auction, and get a raffle ticket for a chance to win great prizes! Event goers will also receive goody bags with all kinds of great gifts inside.
During the event, both the Norman Animal Welfare Shelter and Second Chance Animal Sanctuary will be on-site with adoptable pets.
Admission to the event is free, but the Norman Community Dog Park Association is requesting monetary donations or items from their wish list.
OKC Pet Expo
The Cox Convention Center Arena goes to the dogs each August during the weekend-long OKC Pet Expo. Bring your dog to browse great vendors, watch live entertainment and demonstrations, and socialize with other pooches. During the event, you can sign your pet up for the costume contest for a chance to win fun prizes! There will also be giveaways for both humans and canines during the expo.
Since the event spans two days, it is important to understand the hours. On Saturday, the event begins at 10 am and wraps up at 5 pm. On Sunday, the event has shorter hours and is only open from 11 am to 4 pm.
Admission is free.
