Woofstock
Peace, love, and pets — that’s what you can expect at Woofstock, Oklahoma’s largest and grooviest pet adoption day! Held in September at the Riverwalk Crossing in Jenks, this free event brings together over 40 rescue organizations and animal shelters. However, there’s a whole lot to see and do even if you’re not looking to adopt a pet, with doggy activities, music, food, and a relaxed, dog-friendly atmosphere. You can enter your pet in a contest, meet with trainers and groomers, and buy the latest products from a variety of pet-related vendors and businesses. Why not head on down and check out the fun?

Bark Walk
Boxers are a beautiful and boisterous breed, and Boxer Rescue of Oklahoma is dedicated to helping these gorgeous dogs find loving homes. To do that it needs funds, which is where the annual Bark Walk comes in. This paw-some family event is the rescue group’s big annual fundraiser and it features a one-mile walk through Central Park on Main in Broken Arrow. The walk ends at Pet Fest, a free pet-acular event that includes pet contests, local vendors, local rescue groups, music, raffles, and a kids’ zone. If you’re looking for a fun day out with your dog, you’ll find it right here.

Mutt Strut
Tulsa’s annual Mutt Strut, held in Centennial Park, is a dog walk and pet costume contest with a difference. This woof-tastic day out is held to raise money for Domestic Violence Intervention Services’ (DVIS) kennel, which is the first kennel ever in an Oklahoma domestic violence shelter. The 0.9-mile walk is relaxed and easy, giving you and your pet the paw-fect chance to socialize and enjoy some fresh air. And by dressing your pooch in his cutest costume, he or she could take home the title of King or Queen of the Mutt Strut! Admission is via an in-kind donation to the kennel.

Labapalooza
Labapalooza is the keystone fundraising event for Lab Rescue Oklahoma, a volunteer-run non-profit that helps abandoned and homeless Labrador Retrievers find loving homes. And this event definitely puts the fun in fundraising, boasting a day full of entertaining games and activities for animal lovers. There are dog adoptions, a silent auction and raffle, a kissing booth, and live bands! Food trucks and pet-related vendors are also in attendance at the festival site at Guthrie Green, and all well-behaved pooches are welcome.
K-9 Splash
Every August, Lacy Pool in the Lacy Community Center goes to the dogs! At this regular and highly anticipated event, the pool is closed to people so that Tulsa’s canine population can frolic and play in the water. As well as splashing around and working on their doggy paddle technique, the lucky pooches in attendance also enjoy the chance of winning dog treats and custom-made food bowls through a number of event giveaways. Tickets are $5 per dog and must be purchased in advance at the Community Center, with up to four people admitted free with each dog. If you’re looking for a fun and fabulous way to help your furry friend cool off this summer, K-9 Splash is the paw-fect solution!
