United by their compassion, the organization works hand-in-hand with the Animal Service Deputies and over 100 active volunteers to provide safe, comfortable refuge for animals in their time of need. They strive to be a model shelter for small, rural communities providing progressive animal care. LCAS is committed to making a happier, healthier community by rescuing, rehabilitating, reuniting, and rehoming animals in need. The shelter takes in approximately 1,000 lost, abandoned, sick, and injured animals every year, regardless of species, breed, size, behavior, or health condition.
Aiming to end pet overpopulation and homelessness, LCAS maintains a 100% pre-adoption spay/neuter policy. Additionally, every animal in their care receives medical attention, vaccinations, and microchipping. The shelter strives to place every pet they care for into loving, responsible homes and keep them there. They continue to be a resource for pet owners long after the animals go home. In fact, every dog adoption includes a one-year license, leash, collar, two free behavior consultations, and a certificate for a free examination with a local veterinarian.
LCAS also promotes responsible pet guardianship through education and licensing. They offer support for Lincoln County families with pets through their pet food bank, affordable spay/neuter program, veterinary bill assistance, and other essential community programs.
Thanks to the dedicated efforts of Friends of Lincoln County Animal Shelter (FOLCAS) and the generosity of caring donors, the shelter is able to continuously offer these services and reunite or rehome an average of 900 animals every year. The Lincoln County Animal Shelter exists to enhance the health and happiness of the animals within the shelter as well as out in the community.
