Give a Wag! Gives to Newport Shelters

For nearly 50 years, the Lincoln County Animal Shelter has been the sole resource and refuge for the homeless animals of Newport, OR. The shelter cares for upwards of 1,000 animals each year, from dogs and cats to rabbits and reptiles. No animal will be turned away, regardless of species, breed, age, health, or behavioral status.

The shelter strives to serve as a model for small, rural communities providing progressive animal care and they uphold their mission in everything they do. The mission of Lincoln County Animal Shelter is to provide a safe haven for the community's homeless animals, protect public safety and animal welfare, promote responsible pet ownership, and rehabilitate and rehome animals in need. As a division of the Sheriff's office, the shelter provides a plethora of resources for community pet owners, such as animal licensing, a food bank program, lost and found pet reporting, and humane education. Above all else, the Lincoln County Animal Shelter wants the pets and people of the local community to thrive.

Working together with the Animal Service Deputies and over 100 active volunteers, the shelter staff are dedicated to ensuring humane animal treatment, public safety, and a strong and harmonious human-animal bond. Every animal that comes through the shelter doors receives compassionate care, initial vaccinations, a microchip, a spay/neuter procedure, and a voucher for a free health exam from a local veterinarian upon adoption. Canines in the care of the shelter even go home with a leash, collar, 1-year license, and 2 free behavioral consultations.

Lincoln County Animal Shelter's primary objective is to place each and every animal into the most suitable, loving home. They continue to be a resource for pet owner's long after adoption in hopes of keeping animals happy, healthy, and safely in their forever homes.
