Furry Friends 5K
Bring along your furry friend and come move your paws for a cause! The annual Furry Friends 5K takes place every April to benefit the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter. The enormous fundraiser event encourages pets and their people to be active and celebrates the love that furry friends bring into our lives! Registration begins at 8:30 am and the 5K run/walk kicks off at 10 am from the Olive Street Trailhead of the Lackawanna Heritage Trail. Medals will be awarded to both 2 and 4-legged participants in 7 categories plus first place feline and canine awards! All proceeds directly support the compassionate care of thousands of homeless animals.

Paws in the Park
Paws in the Park is a celebration of all things animal! Organized by the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, the event aims to provide adoption awareness and humane education in a fun, relaxed atmosphere. The family and pet-friendly gathering features tons of pet-related vendors, music, animal demonstrations, local merchants, children's activities, a photo booth, food and beverage, and more! There will even be a microchipping and rabies vaccine clinic on site providing low-cost services to keep your critter companion safe. Your furry friends are encouraged to attend, but please keep them leashed or in a carrier. Pets in the Park is a free event, but donations for the animal shelter are welcome and appreciated!

Tracey's Hope Memorial Pet Walk
Every June, pets and their people gather in McDade Park to walk together in celebration of all animals but especially in memory of our furry friends who have passed. The event brings together lots of local vendors and nonprofit organizations. It also includes kid and canine activities, a basket auction, a petting zoo, animal demonstrations, and entertainment! Registration begins at 10 am followed by a pet blessing, ceremony, and memorial walk. Crowd-friendly, leashed canines are encouraged to attend! Be awed by agility dog demos, enjoy entertainment for the whole family, and honor the furry creatures who bring light to your life! All proceeds benefit Tracey's Hope Hospice Care Program & Rescue for Domestic Animals.

The annual holiday photo session takes place at the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter and all proceeds benefit their mission to shelter, rehabilitate, and rehome animals in need. You are encouraged to dress your pet for the season! A limited supply of holiday sweaters will be available for purchase on-site. The suggested donation of $10 gets you a downloadable picture or a hard copy can be mailed to your home for an additional $3 fee.
