Give a Wag! Gives to Cockrell Hill Shelters

When canines in Cockrell Hill, Texas, fall on tough times, there’s no shortage of dedicated and passionate animal welfare groups ready to come to the rescue.

The SPCA of Texas is one of those groups. This North Texas animal welfare agency operates two shelters and three spay/neuter clinics located in Dallas and McKinney, and also runs a range of programs and services to educate the wider community about bringing people and animals together. The organization’s roots date back to the late 19th century, and over the years this non-profit has helped thousands of animals in need find better lives.

The SPCA of Texas does not receive any government funding and is not affiliated with any other national humane organization. As a result, it relies on generous donations and the hard work of volunteers to be able to continue helping animals in need.

Dallas Pets Alive! is another paw-some local animal rescue and welfare group. With a mission to eliminate the killing of companion animals, this North Texas group is run mostly by volunteers. Its main focus is on rescuing the healthy and treatable pets that would otherwise be euthanized by Dallas Animal Services, and its rescue program is targeted at saving the lives of those animals that have already been overlooked by other rescue groups.

With no shelter facility of its own, Dallas Pets Alive! houses its rescue pets with dedicated foster families throughout North Texas. Living in these loving homes ensures that these pets receive the care they need to one day move into a permanent home with a responsible owner.
