Denton, Texas, is a suburb of Dallas. While homeless animals are much more prevalent in the city, the suburbs also have their fair share of issues with homeless pets. Luckily for the homeless pets of Denton, there are animal shelters that help care for animals in need until they can be found new homes.
The Denton Animal Shelter is run by the City of Denton. This shelter houses numerous cats and dogs with the aim of finding them new homes. All animals that come into the Denton Animal Shelter are given food and medical attention, which includes a spay or neuter. Animals cannot be adopted before they are spayed or neutered. Animals also receive microchips, vaccinations, and a rabies shot. To adopt a cat or a dog, the Denton Animal Shelter requires a $60 fee.
The SPCA of Texas helps homeless animals in the North Texas community to find new homes with loving, permanent families. As the leading animal welfare agency in North Texas, the SPCA of Texas operates two animal shelters and three different spay and neuter clinics throughout Dallas and McKinney. Since the organization isn’t affiliated with the government or any other agency, it is funded by donations, grants, fundraisers, and adoption fees. The organization also utilizes foster families to help care for animals until they can find new homes.
If you live in the Denton area and are looking for a new pet, consider contacting one of these animal shelters to find a new furry friend to bring into your home.
