Doggie Dive In
Each September, dogs flood the Pleasant Glade Pool in Grapevine, Texas, for the Doggie Dive In event. During the annual doggie swimming event, you and your pup can participate in fun activities including the distance diving competition and the swimsuit contest, so don’t forget to dress your dog up in their best pool outfit!
Admission is $5 per hound, but humans get in for free! There is a limit of two dogs per person. The event begins at 11 am and ends at 3 pm, which gives plenty of time for your dog to enjoy splashing around with new friends in the pool.

Dog Days of Denton
Make the short drive to Denton for a Saturday full of fun with your dog on the first weekend of each October! This canine festival features all kinds of fun for the whole family, including arts and crafts, demonstrations, contests, and entertainment. The event is held at the North Texas State Fairgrounds.
From 9 am to 3 pm, you and your dog can compete to win the Dog Singing, Dancing with the Dog, Canine Couture Costume, and How Obedient is Your Dog Contests. Try your dog’s paw at the Canine Lure Course for $5 and take gorgeous Glamfur photos of your dog for just $5, aswell!

Dallas Pet Expo
The Dallas Pet Expo attracts dogs and dog owners from all over the DFW area, and that includes Grapevine! Head over to Dallas Market Hall on a Saturday and Sunday in May for a fun time with your dog browsing through exhibitors, winning great prizes, and watching all kinds of entertainment and demonstrations.
During the expo, your pup can get a free nail trim and discounted vaccinations, microchipping, and heartworm and flea preventatives!
Admission is free for both humans and dogs. Doors are open from 10 am to 5 pm on Saturday and from 11 am to 4 pm on Sunday.

Wiener Dog Race
During Southlake’s annual Oktoberfest, the annual Wiener Dog Race steals the show. With 200 dogs participating in this fast (and long-bodied) race, you are sure to have a good time with your Dachshund.
Event organizers ask that participants pre-register for this event as only 200 dogs will be allowed to race, and spots may fill up fast! The registration fee is $20 per dog.
Only Dachshunds are allowed to participate in this event. Before the race, there will be a costume contest. After the race, all Dachshunds are invited to participate in the Oktoberfest Community Parade.
Paws in the Park
The Gene Carey Animal Shelter and Adoption Center hosts an annual Paws in the Park event that gets pups and their owners outside for a day full of fun times! Browse through pet-related vendor booths, watch amazing demonstrations, listen to live music, and take fun photos at the kissing booth. There will also be a caricature artist at the event to draw you and your dog!
Participate in the Weenie and Wannabe Races and bring your kids to enjoy the bounce house and other kid activities.
From 9 am to 2 pm, you and your dog can socialize with other locals. The event is free to attend.
