Give a Wag! Gives to Lewisville Shelters

As a suburb in the DFW area, Lewisville, Texas, has its fair share of animal-related problems, and homeless pets are no exception! With a couple of different animal shelters in the area, many homeless animals are provided care that they would otherwise be unable to receive. Two of these shelters are Humane Tomorrow and the Gene Cary Animal Shelter and Adoption Center.

Humane Tomorrow is located a few miles away from Lewisville in Flower Mound, Texas. This organization doesn’t have a physical shelter where its animals are housed. Instead, all animals that Humane Tomorrow helps are placed in temporary foster homes until they can find permanent homes. What started with only a small group of volunteers in 1997 has grown into one of the most respected humane organization in North Texas by promoting responsible and compassionate care for all animals. Humane Tomorrow is a non-profit organization that relies on foster families, donations, fundraisers, and adoption fees to keep going.

The Gene Cary Animal Shelter and Adoption Center is part of the City of Lewisville, and the shelter works closely with Animal Control to provide temporary homes for stray animals in the Lewisville area. The group also works with rescue organizations to reduce the number of animals that are euthanized due to overcrowding in shelters. This shelter takes in all animals regardless of breed, size, age, or health problems, but due to limited space and resources, there are times that it can’t offer adoption opportunities to all of the animals in its care, so it turns to other organizations to try to save these animals.

If you live in the area, consider contacting one of these organizations to find your next pet.
