ASU Cares Puppy Pub Crawl

The Austin Arizona State Alumni Association Puppy Pub Crawl is a social, relaxed, and fun event that raises much-needed funds for Austin Humane Society. Held at a variety of participating local venues, this dog-friendly pub crawl allows you to bring your dog along while you enjoy a refreshing beverage or three! It’s a wonderful way to meet new people and give your furry friend a chance to make some new canine chums. The suggested donation of $15 allows you to get a wristband for drink specials at the participating bars, and you also get the warm, fuzzy feeling of knowing that all donations help the animals at Austin Humane Society.

NXNW Oktoberfest

NXNW Oktoberfest is Austin’s longest running Oktoberfest, and it’s not hard to see why. This dog-friendly festival invites dog lovers to sit back, relax, and enjoy themselves with their furry friends. The event features bounce houses for the kids, a simply adorable doggy costume contest, heaps of adoptable animals from Austin Humane Society, and heaps more! And because this paw-some event is held at NXNW Restaurant and Brewery in Stonelake, you know there will always be plenty of delicious refreshments available! Admission is via a suggested $2 donation, which goes to help the dogs at cats at Austin Humane Society that are still searching for their forever homes.

Austin Pet Expo

Want to watch some exciting doggy demonstrations, get up-to-date pet care advice, and shop a wide range of pet products and supplies? Head on down to the Austin Pet Expo, which is held in August at the Palmer Events Center! Featuring tons of exhibitors selling a huge variety of pet products and services, the expo is a grrr-eat place to hunt down a bargain or two. But there’s plenty more to see and do besides shopping, including prize giveaways, live entertainment, obedience demonstrations, author readings, and advice from heaps of pet care experts. It all takes place indoors and well-behaved pets are more than welcome to attend!

DogtoberTROT

Want to get some exercise with your canine companion and raise money to benefit local animal rescue groups at the same time? Check out DogtoberTROT, an annual fundraiser that benefits a variety of local dog rescue organizations! Held in October, this paw-some event features a 1K trot around The Domain phase II. Dog owners are invited to bring their dog along to run or walk around the short course, with all breeds and sizes welcome. The $30 entry fee includes an event t-shirt and a raffle ticket, plus the knowledge that you are raising funds to support some very worthy causes!

Dog Beard and Moustache Competition

Did you know that Austin has a Facial Hair Club? Did you also know that this same club holds an annual competition to find the best canine facial hair in Austin? Well, now you do, and we bet you’re itching to attend this unique and highly entertaining spectacle! Held at The Mohawk in October, the Dog Beard and Moustache Competition is a family-friendly event that’s a joint initiative of the Austin Facial Hair Club and Austin Animal Center. Each year, it sees a plethora of canines show off their coiffure in categories such as dog and owner look alike, best-groomed, styled beard and moustache, and gnarliest beard! It’s a sight to behold and admission is via a suggested $5 donation, with money raised supporting The Schrodi Memorial Fund.
