Austin Pets Alive! is a paw-some local animal welfare group with a mission to promote and provide the resources, education, and programs needed to eliminate the killing of companion animals. Since it was established in 2008, the organization has saved more than 40,000 dogs and cats from euthanasia!
Austin Pets Alive! specializes in saving those animals that commonly never make it out of a shelter environment. This includes puppies with parvovirus, unweaned kittens, and dogs and cats in need of additional behavioral support or additional medical treatment. As a result, Austin has saved more than 90 percent of its shelter animals since 2011.
Austin Humane Society has also made a huge difference in the lives of tens of thousands of animals. Founded in 1952, the society runs the largest no-kill, non-profit pet and adoption center in Austin. Its mission is to save the city’s homeless dogs and cats, educate the community about responsible pet ownership, and reduce pet over-population.
Each year, Austin Humane Society helps thousands of animals find the shelter, treatment, and care they need, before matching them with loving owners in permanent homes. Donations, volunteers, and additional foster carers are always needed, so feel free to lend assistance or a helping paw if you can.
