Sachse is a small town just north of Dallas, Texas, that shares the city’s struggles with homeless pets. While there aren’t nearly as many homeless pets in Sachse as there are in other nearby towns, the town still sees hundreds of homeless pets each year that are looking for permanent families.
There is only one animal shelter within the city limits of Sachse, and that is the Sachse Animal Shelter. The shelter is part of the Sachse Animal Control division of the government. At the shelter, animals are cared for and fed. When animals are picked up by Animal Control or dropped off at the shelter, they are given vaccinations, microchipped, and spayed or neutered. All animals that were spayed or neutered at the shelter require an $80 adoption fee. If a pet was previously spayed or neutered, they will only cost $25 to adopt!
If you can’t find a pet that fits your lifestyle at the Sachse Animal Shelter, there are numerous animal shelters in Richardson, Plano, and Dallas that are all close by. According to PetFinder, there are over 5,000 animals in the Sachse area looking for new homes, but the Sachse Animal shelter is home to less than 200 animals. With seven other animal shelters nearby, you are bound to be able to find a furry new friend to add to your family!
Every October, Sachse hosts it very own Fallfest Paw Parade and Pet Costume Contest! Bring your dog in his or her best outfit to celebrate fall in the parade. Don’t forget to sign up for the Pet Costume Contest for the chance to win fun prizes! The Paw Parade and Pet Costume Contest are hosted by A&B Kennel Club.
Fallfest begins at 10 a.m., but the parade doesn’t start until 1 p.m. Registration for the parade and costume contest also begin at 10 a.m.
Be sure to join other Sachse residents for Fallfest at Heritage Park one Saturday each October for the celebration of the season.
