Jasmine and her family were so awesome with my dog! I almost forgot he was there! I m usually extremely anxious about leaving the love of my life without anyone, but it was easy to see how loved and happy he was there! I truly cannot say enough good things about Courtney. She took the absolute best care of my Belgian Malinois an amazing dog, but definitely not the easiest due to his high energy and breed needs. From day one, she didn t just watch him she showed up for him. She gave him so much love while also keeping him engaged with continued training, mental stimulation, and (not kidding) what felt like an endless game of fetch. He was happy, worked, and fulfilled exactly what a Malinois needs. And as a self-proclaimed psycho dog mom, I appreciated her SO much. She updated me constantly without me ever having to ask, and she never once made me feel annoying or judged. Her communication gave me total peace of mind. She also went way above and beyond fixing his crate, buying rice when his stomach was upset, and handling little things like a true professional who genuinely cares. Because of her, I was able to go out of the country with zero stress about leaving him behind. Honestly I m pretty sure he missed her when we got home. The wild part? She took him on three days notice and cared for him for nine days, happily and confidently. If I could give 100 stars, I would. Hands down the best sitter ever, and I cannot recommend her enough to anyone who wants their dog cared for like family.

Dogs Gone Swimming
Friends of Norfolk Animal Care Center puts on this family-friendly event just after Labor Day each year at the Norfolk Fitness and Wellness Gym to raise funds. Admission costs start at $20 per dog and increase based on how many swims your pooches want to take. There is live music to be heard, dog swimsuit contests to be seen, and refreshments to be enjoyed. Cool down and finish the summer off right!36
First Fridays on Granby
Granby Street is one of the cornerstones of Norfolk living. It is the epicenter for trendy restaurants, concert venues, and shopping. On the first Friday of each month, starting in the Spring and going straight on into October, a dog-friendly street festival with a beer garden pops up on Granby. First Fridays are situated near Tidewater Community College and host a slew of vendors, food trucks, and live bands. Let your pup tag along next time you realize it's the first Friday of the month!24
Dogtoberfest
A local favorite, O'Connor's Brewing Company plays host to Dogtoberfest every October to benefit Norfolk Animal Care Center. Dogs are welcome and highly encouraged to dress up for the occasion! With door prizes, contests, live music, and different food trucks scattered throughout the day, you had better start looking for matching beer maid costumes.12
Ocean View Beach
Seasonally open to pets, Ocean View Beach is settled just on the shoreline of the Chesapeake Bay. Whether you want to go kayaking, jogging, or lay out on the beach, Ocean View is the perfect spot for relaxing or adventuring. There are three different beach park spaces, all with public facilities, so you and your pupper are bound to have a good time!
Summer Sunday Dog Days
Starting in June and finishing in August, Norfolk Botanical Gardens welcomes dogs of all sizes to join in on the fun each Sunday. Free for members and $5 for non-members, it is a real treat for Fido and the whole family. With more than 15 different gardens to smell and explore, the dog days of summer are meant to be spent here!
