Sittings take place at your home and boardings take place at your pet caregiver's home.
All pet caregivers offer pick-up and drop-off for boarding services.
Your pet caregiver will send photos and videos throughout the service in addition to a thorough report card.

“Your dog’s best friend when you can’t be there”
I am passionate about dogs and have raised and loved multiple medium to large breed dogs over the past 30 years. My current baby is an active 87 lb Rhodesian Ridgeback, the second Rhodesian I have raised from puppyhood. I tailor my level of effort to your dog’s needs and specialize in high energy dogs who enjoy a faster pace. I treat each of my dog clients as if they were my own and have a proven WAG! track record of being 100% reliable, giving above and beyond care to my clients on every walk.

Friends of Norfolk Animal Care Center are committed to helping critters in need! Founded to provide supplementary medical aid to the Norfolk Animal Care Center, Friends of Norfolk Animal Care Center has grown each year with the support of the community. "Friends" works tirelessly as a gap service provider to animals in dire need of veterinary treatment or forever homes. They raise funds by hosting events all year round to contribute to improvements at the shelter or to create emergency funds. When they are not busy caring for homeless pets, Friends of NACC produces animal cookbooks and calendars annually to spread cheer and paws-itivity.
Rainbow Animal Rescue is one of the smaller, canine-only shelters in the Norfolk area. What they lack in shelter space, they surely make up for in dedication and hard work, as they are an entirely volunteer-based organization. Their fights against unnecessary euthanasia and irresponsible pet ownership are apparent to all those who pay them a visit. Rainbow Animal Rescue maintains several national partnerships with organizations dedicated to these fights and is always looking for more volunteers to join their team.
The Norfolk SPCA is actually one of the oldest animal shelters in the entire country, established in the 1800s! With an intake of about 1,000 animals and 950 adoptions each year, they certainly have their hands full. That said, it is one of the few no-kill shelters contracted by the government, offering a number of various services to the community such as the Senior Dogs for Senior Citizens project, a pet pantry, and limited veterinary services. This shelter has been at it for decades and decades, and is showing no signs of slowing down!
Friends of Norfolk Animal Care Center puts on this family-friendly event just after Labor Day each year at the Norfolk Fitness and Wellness Gym to raise funds. Admission costs start at $20 per dog and increase based on how many swims your pooches want to take. There is live music to be heard, dog swimsuit contests to be seen, and refreshments to be enjoyed. Cool down and finish the summer off right!
Granby Street is one of the cornerstones of Norfolk living. It is the epicenter for trendy restaurants, concert venues, and shopping. On the first Friday of each month, starting in the Spring and going straight on into October, a dog-friendly street festival with a beer garden pops up on Granby. First Fridays are situated near Tidewater Community College and host a slew of vendors, food trucks, and live bands. Let your pup tag along next time you realize it's the first Friday of the month!
A local favorite, O'Connor's Brewing Company plays host to Dogtoberfest every October to benefit Norfolk Animal Care Center. Dogs are welcome and highly encouraged to dress up for the occasion! With door prizes, contests, live music, and different food trucks scattered throughout the day, you had better start looking for matching beer maid costumes.
Seasonally open to pets, Ocean View Beach is settled just on the shoreline of the Chesapeake Bay. Whether you want to go kayaking, jogging, or lay out on the beach, Ocean View is the perfect spot for relaxing or adventuring. There are three different beach park spaces, all with public facilities, so you and your pupper are bound to have a good time!
Starting in June and finishing in August, Norfolk Botanical Gardens welcomes dogs of all sizes to join in on the fun each Sunday. Free for members and $5 for non-members, it is a real treat for Fido and the whole family. With more than 15 different gardens to smell and explore, the dog days of summer are meant to be spent here!
