“I just love dogs- young, old, big and small.”

I live in the Tri-cities area and am currently available for daytime and night time walks. I have two dogs of my own but have cared for up to four at a time. My friends all call me to watch their dogs when they are not available. I live in a community with 46 dogs, all of which I know and love. I am not afraid of any breeds and can spoil or follow the strictest rules. I believe each fur baby parent knows best how they want to have their babies cared for.

“Focusing on a good relationship with your dog.”

Hello my name is John and I am a dog person. I spent my entire life around dogs. Well some people enjoy other activities. I love hanging out with my Dogs. I love taking them out to explore and giving them plenty of exercise, exposure, socialization, and adventure. I think this is very beneficial to Dog’s overall well-being and health. Exercise of course is very important for every dog; but the chance to get out and sniff and explore their environment is just as important.

Hi! I grew up in the Chicago area with three dogs but gained most of my dog care experience as a Volunteer Dog Trainer and Raiser at the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio. As a volunteer, I fostered service dogs-in-training (SDITs) for three years! Over the course of those three years I got to bond with 8 amazing dogs while training, socializing, and caring for them. I get excited to meet any dog, big or small, cranky or sweet! Outside of dog care, I majored in biology and have a year experience handling wildlife, including amphibians, reptiles, and small mammals.

About Dog Training in Algonquin, IL

Training Fun Fact #1:

Who doesn’t love a dog who likes to perform? You see that trait in both the Poodle and the Yorkshire Terrier. Combine the two for the designer diva Yorkipoo, and you’ve got one cute show-off! These dogs adore the competitive scene and are eager and willing training partners. This is a pawpular breed, so expect to see them on the performance stage at most shows.

Training Fun Fact #2:

Did you know that dogs of any age can be taught to carry things? It’s not just the big boys with the know-how and strength to tote something. Mini-mutts have the muscle power, too! Just be sure to give them a task or tool that matches their size. Small dogs make the ideal ring bearers-and to be honest, the cutest ones as well!

Training Fun Fact #3:

Learning to be a search and rescue dog is a noble undertaking. It takes consistency and dedication from dog and pet parent both. Does your tail-wagger have what it takes? An incredible sniffer, strong legs, and sheer determination are essentials. Trailing and tracking are the first steps, and then air detection is taught.

Average Cost of Dog Training in Algonquin, IL

Looking to teach an old dog new tricks? Or is your puppy the new kid on the block? Your answer may affect the cost of your dog’s instruction. The price of dog training will vary, depending on how many classes you want your pooch to take and whether they already know basic commands.

In Algonquin, training your dog in the comfort of your own home costs around $100 an hour. Pre-consultation may be mandatory, and travel fees could be tacked on to the price. In-home instruction is ideal for the young four-legger or a dog who is anxious or overly shy.

Group lessons in Algonquin may be just the ticket for a high-energy dog who needs the excitement of a busy class environment to wear them down. Clever dogs with beans to burn will thrive in a group class where movement is constant. Budget between $100 and $150 for a course. This may span over 4 to 6 weeks.

For certain, your pup is like family, and you’ll do whatever it takes to get them trained right. But group classes run the same day, same time every week and sometimes that is hard to maintain. Not all instructors can offer make-up classes, leaving you and your pooch trying to figure out how to catch up.

If flexibility is what you need, yet you still want a competent trainer, book with Wag! for an affordable solution. Algonquin dog trainers with Wag! are knowledgeable and ready to train when it suits you best.

Chat with an enthusiastic trainer, book, and pay – all within the Wag! app. Discuss your needs with a dog trainer and set up your first lesson at just $60 per one-hour session. What could be simpler?

Going Off-Leash in Algonquin, IL

What’s the best way to spend the day? With your woofer, of course! Before you head out to the wilderness, learn the leash laws of your local area. In Algonquin, rabies vaccines and dog licenses are a must. Leashes must be under 10 feet long, and doggos cannot run at large about town.

If your canine kid is itching for adventure and fun, head to Chicago, where there are more trails than you can shake a stick at. From Ping Tom Park Trails to the Loyola Park Paths, most are easy to traverse and short enough that you and your dog can cover all there is to see! Look at sculptures, art walls, and even a view of the Chicago skyline!

Take a meander to Hoffman Estates and Bo’s Run Dog Park at Willow Park. You’ll need a membership, but it’s worth the expense as you’ll want to come back again and again! With agility equipment to play on and two separate areas for doggos big and small, this park means to make dogs happy.

Having a little trouble convincing your dog when it’s time to go home? Work with a local dog trainer with Wag! to teach your pupster the rules of good doggy behavior.

Dog Training in Algonquin, IL

All dog trainers on the Wag! platform are vetted, and many have years of hands-on experience dog sitting, dog walking, and even volunteering at local shelters. Their keenness to help pooches in need gives them excellent command of doggy language and behavior. This know-how is then passed right on to you!

What types of dogs are enjoying this wonderful care? Algonquin’s top dogs are much-loved and know they are privileged pups! The boisterous Beagle is always right in the middle of the action, waiting for a ball to be thrown or a game of fetch to begin.

Invite the Goldendoodle to join in on the fun. They are pros at just about any sport, and their get up and go attitude will convince any dogs on the sidelines to join in. Then, after a morning of outdoor adventure, relax on a local dog-furiendly patio for a drink and pooch-approved treat.

The gang’s all here! You will likely meet the spunky Shih Tzu relaxing under a shady bench. They’ll happily welcome you to the crowd. Get ready for a pawsome time of socialization and play.

Is your dog eager to join the group? Get them party-ready and take the first step to a well-behaved dog. Book your pooch’s first dog training lesson on the Wag! platform and watch their tail wag for joy!
