I have been working in the pet care industry for approximately seven years now. I managed a daycare and pet boarding facility for four years and prior to that, I was a Kennel Supervisor for two years with a facility located in New Hampshire. More recently, I have worked as a Vet Tech in a general practice and emergency setting, as well as with a local animal shelter. Working as a Vet Tech has provided me with the opportunity to gain the knowledge and hands on experience of the medical aspect involved in providing care to both canines and felines. I have aspired to work with animals since I was a child and have always had a true passion toward them. I have years of experience in a canine pack environment, as well as one on one with most dog breeds. I also have personal experience, as I have two rescue dogs of my own. I feel this is very important when dealing with a client's pet, as it provides the assurance that their pet is in good hands. In addition to dogs, I have grown up living with cats my whole life. I also have worked with cats in both shelter and veterinary settings. From a ferrel cat to a lap cat, I have experienced both, yet love them all the same! I can confidently medicate any animal if necessary, including pilling to providing insulin injections. My main focus is currently working in the animal care field and furthering my education with my CVT. I absolutely love working in an environment where the focus is caring for animals. My ultimate goal is to own a rescue some day. I feel as though my passion for animals and my prior experience would be a great match for you and your pet! I look forward to hearing from you regarding your furry family members' needs!

“Every dog’s different & all deserve the same love!”

I‘ve been a Wag! Walker for year & have been an avid dog lover all my life! I’ve had two very different dogs; my first was a German Shepherd named Tash, a beautiful dog with enormous strength—so rewarding to train and be around. I currently own a finicky, anxious Mini Pinscher who I adore! I know Boston well and have been around animals my entire life, so I know how to earn a dog’s trust before taking control of the leash. I believe in positive reinforcement with dogs, & I think they do too!

About Dog Training in Belmont, MA

Training Fun Fact #1:

Did you know that the Boston Terrier is Massachusetts’ official state dog? This beautiful, athletic breed traces its roots back to a single dog named Judge. The fur-child of a Bulldog and an English Terrier, Judge was brought from Liverpool to Boston in the late 19th century. Less than 20 years later, the breed’s popularity led to the formation of the Boston Terrier Club of America — and the rest, as they say, is history! Boston Terriers are friendly dogs who respond well to training. They’ll learn obedience and behavioral commands quickly and excel at agility, flyball, and other canine sports.

Training Fun Fact #2:

Complete with ponds, wetlands, a waterfall, and acres upon acres of lush greenery, Beaver Brook Reservation is a hip hangout for local pups and their parents. If you’ve got a shy Shih Tzu at the end of that leash, work on socalization training and staying calm in busy environments. A busy road also runs through the park, so train your dog to stay away from cars, too. Once you’re confident your pup will be on their best behavior at this busy park, leash up and hit the trails!

Training Fun Fact #3:

Boston is packed full of dog-friendly things to do, see, and even eat. But for a really special excursion, make plans to soak up some sun at Nahant Doggie Beach. Is Fido a little fearful of the water or busy atmosphere? Their favorite toys and treats will come in handy when training your dog to swim at the beach. Wade alongside your woofer in the shallows, using treats and toys as an incentive. Before long, your pal will be doing the doggy paddle in the surf!

Average Cost of Dog Training in Belmont, MA

Dog training facilities in Belmont, MA offer a variety of training options. Most private sessions are held at the training facility rather than in-home, but some packages offer a select number of in-home sessions in addition to other resources and classes. These packages are typically billed monthly and start at $300.

You can expect to pay $130 on average for a private on-site training session. Group classes in Belmont range typically cost $175 and run for 6 weeks. Training options include puppy training, obedience basics, agility, and other canine sports.

Group classes may not be the best fit for every pup or their parents. Reactive dogs or those who may need some extra one-on-one attention may prefer private training. Pup parents who work full-time might also appreciate a training option that accommodates their busy schedules.

Searching for a more flexible in-home training solution? Look no further! Belmont, MA dog training professionals with Wag! are ready to assist your pupper with their training needs. Download the app, enter your details, set the time and date of your session, and choose your trainer. It’s that simple! Once that’s out of the way, chat with your trainer to ask questions, review your dog’s training needs, and plan your session. Belmont dog trainers with Wag! bring the obedience classes right to your living room for a fraction of the cost — just $60 per hour-long session!

Going Off-Leash in Belmont, MA

One of the major perks of training is being able to play off-leash at the dog park. Belmont allows dogs off-leash at select city parks, but a few rules apply. Aside from observing standard dog park etiquette, you’ll need to apply for an off-leash permit with the city. Your dog may need to pass a behavior assessment with the city as part of the permit application process.

It’s important to note that Belmont’s off-leash areas aren’t dog parks. They’re public parks and sports fields that welcome well-behaved dogs off-leash during designated hours. Because there are no separate fenced areas and no amenities, supervising your dog closely is imperative for everyone’s safety. Be mindful of any events and weather conditions that may result in the closure of the fields.

Worried that your doggo might not play by the rules at Belmont’s off-leash areas? Why not connect with a Belmont dog trainer to work on good behavior? Belmont’s dog training professionals can help you train your dog to come when called, play well with other dogs, and teach other commands needed for a fun day at the dog park.

Dog Training in Belmont, MA

What do Belmont’s dog training superstars get up to outside of class? Most have their paws full caring for their own fur-babies! Beloved family pets inspired many Belmont dog trainers on the Wag! app to pursue work as pet caregivers. Whether they’re working with foster pups, rescues, their own dogs, or your own fur-child, Belmont dog trainers have the knowledge and experience Sparky needs to succeed.

Local dog trainers work with a wide variety of breeds. The Bichon Frise is just one breed that’s stolen the hearts of Belmont’s pet parents. Cute as a button and equally intelligent, the Bichon Frise is a treat to train — for the most part. They love learning new tricks to impress their families, but housebreaking can be an issue. Without a positive, consistent approach to training, Bichon Frises can develop destructive behaviors. Need some help with training? Book a session with a Belmont dog trainer and your Bichon will be the best-behaved dog on the block in no time!

The American Cocker Spaniel is also among the most popular dog breeds in Belmont. Cocker Spaniels love nothing more than making their humans happy, a trait that comes in handy for training. Use a positive approach with plenty of treats and your Cocker Spaniel will learn the rules of the roost faster than you can say “fetch!” Cocker Spaniels also love showing off at competitions and canine sporting events.

Whether you need help with puppy training, obedience, behavior, or even agility, Belmont, MA dog training professionals are ready to lend a helping paw. Book your session today and get ready to discover your pupper’s potential! (Plus, this budget-friendly training option saves you some extra cash to spend on dog toys and treats.)
