I have been working in the pet care industry for approximately seven years now. I managed a daycare and pet boarding facility for four years and prior to that, I was a Kennel Supervisor for two years with a facility located in New Hampshire. More recently, I have worked as a Vet Tech in a general practice and emergency setting, as well as with a local animal shelter. Working as a Vet Tech has provided me with the opportunity to gain the knowledge and hands on experience of the medical aspect involved in providing care to both canines and felines. I have aspired to work with animals since I was a child and have always had a true passion toward them. I have years of experience in a canine pack environment, as well as one on one with most dog breeds. I also have personal experience, as I have two rescue dogs of my own. I feel this is very important when dealing with a client's pet, as it provides the assurance that their pet is in good hands. In addition to dogs, I have grown up living with cats my whole life. I also have worked with cats in both shelter and veterinary settings. From a ferrel cat to a lap cat, I have experienced both, yet love them all the same! I can confidently medicate any animal if necessary, including pilling to providing insulin injections. My main focus is currently working in the animal care field and furthering my education with my CVT. I absolutely love working in an environment where the focus is caring for animals. My ultimate goal is to own a rescue some day. I feel as though my passion for animals and my prior experience would be a great match for you and your pet! I look forward to hearing from you regarding your furry family members' needs!

“Every dog’s different & all deserve the same love!”

I‘ve been a Wag! Walker for year & have been an avid dog lover all my life! I’ve had two very different dogs; my first was a German Shepherd named Tash, a beautiful dog with enormous strength—so rewarding to train and be around. I currently own a finicky, anxious Mini Pinscher who I adore! I know Boston well and have been around animals my entire life, so I know how to earn a dog’s trust before taking control of the leash. I believe in positive reinforcement with dogs, & I think they do too!

About Dog Training in Winthrop, MA

Training Fun Fact #1:

Some dogs simply love to eat — and they don’t necessarily always eat the right things. Some love getting into the trash to snaffle a snack, some like chowing down on rocks, and others even have a tendency to eat clothing. There can be many different causes for this type of behavior, including everything from boredom and a need for attention to poor diet and a number of health problems. Your vet can help you determine if there’s a medical reason for your dog to eat things they shouldn’t, while there are plenty of dog trainers in Winthrop, MA, who can help you get to the bottom of any behavioral issues.

Training Fun Fact #2:

Does your dog have a problem with barking when left at home alone? If so, there are a few different ways to train your dog out of this nasty habit. Maybe you’d like to try the desensitize method, which involves breaking the link in your dog’s mind between you leaving and being left alone. Alternatively, you could try making less of a big deal about leaving the house, or addressing the triggers that cause your dog to bark. Whichever option you choose, your neighbors will surely thank you.

Training Fun Fact #3:

No one said dog training had to be serious all the time. Why not have some fun and teach your dog to perform some cool party tricks? For example, maybe you’d like to teach your puppy to pass a note to someone, catch a treat from their nose, or do the “circle me” trick. And if you’re looking for something particularly impressive, nothing beats teaching your dog how to ride a skateboard!

Average Cost of Dog Training in Winthrop, MA

If you’re searching for dog trainers in Winthrop, MA, you’ll no doubt be aware that there are plenty of options to choose from. What you might not realize is that choosing the best dog trainer isn’t always easy.

There are several factors to consider when choosing a dog trainer near you. How long has the person been in business? What qualifications and experience do they have? What training methods do they use? Are they a good communicator? How much do their services cost?

Then there’s the matter of choosing between group classes and private training lessons. Group classes can be extremely useful if you want to socialize your dog while working on a few basic obedience skills. They’re a particularly popular option with pet parents looking for puppy training, but they do require an ongoing commitment. The cost of group lessons ranges from approximately $150 to $350 for 4 to 6 weeks of classes.

If your dog isn’t suited to group sessions, you might opt for private Winthrop dog training sessions. This means your dog is the sole focus of the trainer’s attention and you can target specific problem behaviors.

The downside is that private training can be quite expensive. It’s not uncommon to pay anywhere between $80 and $150 for a private training session — even more in some cases. And while you might be able to lower the per-session cost by booking multiple lessons, the cost is still significant.

In comparison, dog trainers with Wag! offer rates starting at just $60 for a 1-hour in-home training session. That includes one-on-one training and a customized training plan designed to meet your dog’s needs. Who said improving your dog’s behavior had to cost an arm and a leg?

Going Off-Leash in Winthrop, MA

There are plenty of ways to treat your dog to an adventure in Winthrop, MA, but there are few better than taking a trip to an off-leash dog park. Unfortunately, you may need to travel a little further afield to find the right place for your furry friend to enjoy some leash-free fun.

One option well worth a look is the Bremen Street Dog Park in Boston. Featuring separate areas for small and large dogs, this off-leash area is also home to agility courses if you want to work on some training with your pup. Other features include water fountains, pet waste stations, and seating.

Another Boston dog park you might want to check out is the Joe Wex Dog Recreation Space in Peters Park. Featuring a 10,000-square-foot space for large dogs and 3,000 square feet for smaller breeds, this popular park is the ideal spot to do some doggy socializing. There are large stone slabs for dogs to sniff and explore, while surrounding Peters Park is a pretty spot for a (leashed) walk when you’re finished.

Of course, you’ll need to make sure your pup knows how to behave at the dog park before your visit. That means they’ll need to be accepting of strangers and play nice with other dogs, not to mention reliably come when you tell them it’s time to go home.
