“A tired dog is a happy dog!”

Hi, my name is Amber and I aim to be your dogs new best friend! We will bond through fun walks that always have at least a brisk jog and a cool down time! I try to take a video of your baby if I can as we walk so you get to see the smile on their faces, their way of saying thanks for the walk and the fun walker! Dogs that get plenty of exercise will always be too tired to misbehave at home, curbing behaviors that come from boredom!

About Dog Training in Mt Rainier, MD 20712

Training Fun Fact #1:

Think Max would be great on an agility course? Well, it may be easier than you think to teach your woofer to agility jump. In just over a month, you can have your hound hopping over obstacles with ease. Position your pooch in front of a low jump and stand on the other side with a treat or toy. Call for your dog to “jump”. You can always use a lead as a guide if they're having some trouble. As long as they go over the jump, give them plenty of praise. If they fail, don't punish your dog, but just keep trying until they get it right. You can always join in to show your fur-baby how it's done!

Training Fun Fact #2:

If you have a small dog, it can be super handy to teach them how to use a litter box. This trick will take less than two months, and will save you having to clean up after your pint-sized pupper. Try placing the litter box close to your dog's bed or play area, and encourage them to get in the litter box with treats, toys, and praise. If they go near the box on their own, give them praise. As your dog gets used to things, slowly move the box to a more secluded spot in your home.

Training Fun Fact #3:

All dogs love to chew on things, and sometimes that "thing" can be your expensive clothes. You can teach your dog not to eat your clothes in just over a month with a few easy steps. When your dog is next chewing on a piece of clothing, grab a treat and let them smell it. Give them a command like "leave," and if your dog drops the article of clothing, give them praise the treat. Keep practicing this over a few weeks, and try using old clothes as bait, so you don't ruin your favorite shirt.

Average Cost of Dog Training in Mount Rainier, MD

With the nation's capital right on your doorstep, you won't be short of potential dog trainers in Mount Rainier. Before diving headfirst into a session, there are few things to consider to ensure training your pupper goes off without a hitch.

First off, make sure you meet all of your chosen trainer's rules and requirements. Some trainers ask that you have your dog vaccinated and state any medical issues before attending a class. You may also want to book a trainer a few weeks in advance, as you'll find most trainers near DC have hectic schedules.

You'll find there are generally two types of training classes in DC: private and group. Group classes tend to be cheaper than private lessons, but aren't ideal for doggos who have trouble focusing with lots of distractions around. You'll also have to attend a session every week, which can pose a problem for pet parents with busy schedules. Around Mount Rainier, group puppy training classes cost around $130 for a 4 to 6-week course.

Alternatively, you can book Scoob in for a private session. These classes usually take place at your home and help your dog pick up new skills faster. Private sessions tend to be much more expensive and cost between $100 to $135 per session. You'll often need to have an initial consultation before starting classes, which could affect the training cost.

Struggling to find a suitable dog trainer in Mount Rainier? If so, have a look for a dog trainer on the Wag! platform. Dog trainers through Wag! charge rates starting at $60 per hour and offer personalized classes, so you know what to expect from your upcoming session. You'll also save a bit of money you can use to pamper your fur-baby.
