Hidden Valley is a pleasantly green Charlotte neighborhood with houses well set back from tree-lined streets. Streets are wide and almost all have sidewalks. Annual festivals like the Canvas, Corks & Cervezas event make walking through Hidden Valley fun, but be aware of where and when events are being held if you are walking a dog who doesn't like crowds or noise.

While several years ago the neighborhood had a somewhat negative reputation for gang activity, that is all but rooted out now, leaving this neighborhood safe and pleasant for walking.

Tom Hunter park offers a pleasant forested environment to throw a ball with your dog mid-walk. While it has the typical public park problems, daytime visits are fine. If you're looking for a break from the neighborhood streets, be sure to check out the pleasant natural setting of Little Sugar Creek.

Hidden Valley is mostly flat, orderly neighborhoods where you can walk along the wide, tree-lined streets on sidewalks. Houses are well-set back for pleasant walking. The Little Sugar Creek offers a pleasant deviation from the standard neighborhood streets. This tiny creek runs through the neighborhood, offering off-concrete walking and heavily forested patches. While there aren't many designated walking paths along the creek, if you and your dog are looking for a little adventure, you can go off-road and enjoy the forested areas around the creek.

Tom Hunter Park is a well-forested park in the northern part of Hidden Valley. This park has lots of amenities like playgrounds for children, drinking fountains, and a basketball court. Like most public parks, Tom Hunter Park is best and safest visited during daylight hours. There are plenty of pleasant places in this park to enjoy a quiet rest from walking your dog or to play a game of ball.

Hidden Valley also has a sweet little creek running through it called Little Sugar Creek. This creek is tiny and does not have much in the way of formal walking paths along it, but it can be pleasant to walk your dog along the creek and into the forested areas that surround it in some areas.
