Highland Park is a beautiful little neighborhood in the northwest outskirts of San Antonio. This neighborhood is just about as safe as can be for your pup with three animal hospitals and a vet. Although none of the hospitals is a bad choice, Affordable Pet Care Northwest takes the crown as the best with Great Northwest Animal Hospital following close behind. The top vet clinic in the area is located in the Pet Medical Center of San Antonio. With a high rating, you can feel safe knowing your pets always have a great place to go for anything they may need.

Although there are not many options in the way of grooming, the best option is so great you won't miss the rest. Clip & Care Dog Grooming is close, quick, and sure to provide an excellent experience. This location is usually pretty moderate in temperature, however, hydration should be closely monitored for both you and your pet during summer.

San Antonio neighborhoods are notoriously very flat and this one is no exception. Aside from the occasional hilly street, this neighborhood and the surrounding area is extremely flat. Although this does take away some of the more exciting sights of mountain trail views, there are perks to flat walking trails, the best of which is simply distance. Thanks to the lack of difficulty in the walking trails, walkers are allowed to travel much further distances without exhausting themselves or their dogs. This makes it easy to take your dogs to view beautiful city views or relax at a local park, even if the distance is a bit longer than your average walk.

This neighborhood is next to a big city so most people would assume this is a very artificial area.  However, Highland Park is more natural than you would expect. This is largely due to the neighborhood's pride in beauty and the city's pride in park preservation.

The parks in this area show a special dedication to inclusion and entertainment for all ages. Almost all of them have parks that make it easy for walkers to bring their kids and turn pet walking into a family event. They also almost always feature beautiful walking trails for a relaxing walk with your pup. One of the best examples of this is O.P. Schnabel Park. This 202-acre park includes a YMCA program, ball fields, a basketball court, trails, and a high rating. With all of these features, any dog walker is sure to find the perfect path for them.

The second most popular park is Nani Falcone Community Park. This park has put a very unique spin on trail-walking by lining its mile-long trail with any amusement you could want out of a park. Some of the main attractions include a playground, a disc-golf course, and a skate park.
