The neighborhood of Hunts Point is located in the borough of the Bronx. A little history lesson first - Edward Jessup and John Richardson came from Europe way back in 1663 to purchase Hunts Point from the Wekkguasegeeck tribe. After Jessup passed away his widow willed the land to her son-in-law, Thomas Hunt, Jr. - hence, its name. Many Quaker families called Hunts Point home in its formative years; when New Yorkers began to hear about this little gem of a city, they moved there in droves.  The land was once owned by H.D. Tiffany, of Tiffany's & Co. and many famous and wealthy people vacationed there before World War I. The town later became an industrial mecca, employing thousands of people - from meat, to produce to textiles - you name it, it was manufactured, cultivated and procured right here!  Over 800 businesses call Hunts Point home!

The sidewalks are paved concrete and the streets are black asphalt. Take caution in extreme hot or cold weather and prevent burns, cuts or burns on your dog's paw pads. There are two main parks that welcome your furry friend - the award-winning Hunts Point Riverside Park and the 5-acre Barretto Point Park located on the waterfront of the eastside border. Come on over and bring your leashed fur-pal along for the fun of it all! Stroll along the many paved, manicured trails with your leashed pup; make sure you bring plenty of water (dogs are not permitted to drink from the fountains) and some doggy doodoo bags to clean up after your pet. It is up to all the visitors of these fine parks to help keep them beautiful and pristine!  There are a few designated area where your pooch can be off leash to run and play with their new fur friends. Take a nap on the green grass, catch a volleyball or basketball game from the stands--can you have any more fun?  I think not!
