Manhattanville is a beautiful little neighborhood bordered by Morningside Park and the Hudson River. Naturally, it is located in Manhattan, and runs right along Broadway. This neighborhood is composed of tall and imposing apartment and office buildings, often of interesting architectural design. Mature trees are scattered throughout the city, interspersed along the wide sidewalk.
There is no divider between the sidewalk and road, and roads tend to be busy with traffic. This is a good place to teach tight leash control while walking through crowds, but not the best place to walk your dog on a loose leash or enjoy activities like skateboarding, bicycling, or rollerblading with your dog.
Some apartment complex areas offer internal areas for walking where you can get away from the heavy traffic, but for the best walking experience in Manhattanville head to the lovely walking paths in the forest in Morningside Park or go towards the river and the sprawling Riverside Park.
Walking through Manhattanville with your dog is a good way to teach leash manners in an already well-trained dog, but it is not an enjoyable place for either you or your dog to go on a casual walk. To get away from the city, head for Morningside Park with its beautiful forested walking trails and lovely gardens. Plenty of mature trees and large grassy areas with natural rocky outcroppings and inclines will make this an exciting place for you to explore with your dog. Many areas of this park are allowed to grow almost wild, so you can feel separated from the city.
For the best walking that Manhattanville has to offer, head for the Hudson River and the beautiful Riverside Park. This park covers miles of the riverside, for natural forest exploration while enjoying the beautiful and cooling sea breezes on hot New York days. Plenty of benches and lovely grassy areas will let you and your dog enjoy relaxing at this lovely park.
While walking through this neighborhood certainly feels like city walking, Manhattanville makes it easy for you to escape from the city streets with plenty of access to beautiful parks. The Riverside Park covers miles along the water for a beautiful experience walking through the forest on well-maintained trails with lovely views of the river. This area is rich with gorgeous mature trees and offers natural inclines that present beautiful landscapes and give you the exciting opportunity to look into the treetops for a great chance of seeing all kinds of beautiful bird life that enjoys living so close to the river. On very hot days you can walk right along the water to get the most from the breezes coming off of the Hudson River and to enjoy the gorgeous views and let your dog have a chance to explore the natural rocky shoreline of the Hudson.
If you would rather not go so far as the Riverside Park, the smaller Morningside Park nestled within Manhattanville offers lovely walking trails to forested areas and beautiful grassy clearings as well.
