The Hampton area, on the western side of Cave Springs, Arkansas, is a young neighborhood with newer houses and landscaping. This area is surrounded by rural properties, providing a country feel. Cave Springs is a small community with some commercial services, however, larger centers nearby such as Bentonville, offer more services in terms of pet supplies, care, and grooming.
There are several parks and natural areas nearby including the Cave Springs Natural Area, which contains examples of flora and fauna native to the area, and interpretive information about the area's unique features. The weather in Cave Springs is predominantly sunny with lower than average rainfall, so you will rarely have to worry about getting wet on walks with your dog. It can be very hot and humid in the summer, however, so be prepared with water and to take breaks when necessary. On some hot, humid days lounging in the yard under a tree or by a pool may be preferable for you and your pup! Winters are relatively mild, but cold snaps are possible and some snow occurs. There is usually lots of sunshine, even in winter, so if you take precautions against cool weather you can still enjoy a walk with your dog, even in winter.
This area is flat and strenuous walking in the neighborhood is not required, so feel free to wear your comfortable shoes and go for a few loops of the neighborhood. If you have an energetic dog you may have to do more than one tour of the area or venture out into the neighboring rural areas. Because traffic is minimal you can try skateboarding or biking with your dog on a long leash on the roadway, just be cautious of hazards.
The Hamptons are surrounded by farms and rural properties providing scenic green spaces. Private rural properties are not accessible except along roadways. Remember, rural properties may contain livestock that can frighten, or be frightened by, a passing dog so take precautions to keep your dog on a secure leash. There are several subdivisions in the area that can be accessed along roadways for a longer, greener walk with your dog, if you want to venture to adjacent neighborhoods. Just a short distance to the southwest is the Cave Springs Natural area, which features a 1.45 mile walking trail. The lower trail is relatively flat and easy, but the upper trail features a short steep climb above the cave. There is also a lake. Some activities in this area are restricted due to the sensitive ecosystem. Keep up to date regarding local regulations and regarding accessibility by dogs. This area features many rare plants and animals and interpretive information on the unique landscape and wildlife.
