This Wake Forest neighborhood is located twenty-three miles from Union Hope, and is home to the Flaherty Dog Park. With a fully fenced enclosure that encompasses two acres for off-leash running and socialization, there is not a separate area for small dogs, so be aware of that when planning your visit. The dog park provides water stations for the dogs, but you’ll need to bring your own. Waste bags and receptacles are on hand, too. Human companions have picnic benches to sit on while watching their furry friend at play. This dog park is free and open to the public from dawn until dusk.

East Clayton

Just 25 miles west of Union Hope in Clayton, you'll see its worth the drive for the East Clayton Dog Park. Dogs have three acres of their own space to have some leash-free fun in the Carolina sun. The ground is mostly mulch and dirt, and rolling around in it will earn some pups a bath after the fun is done. There is a small cleanup area to get the worst of it off before the return trip home. Smaller dogs have a separate fenced area. The dog park has water for the dogs, and metal benches for the pet owners to rest and relax while supervising their furry friends.. The dog park is open from dawn to dusk.

Central Knightdale

Knightdale is twenty miles west of Union Hope. Knightdale Station is home to the Ashley Wilder Dog Park located at 810 N 1st Avenue. The dog park has two fully fenced enclosures with a separate one for the small dogs. Specially designed water fountains for both dogs and people are just outside the gate. The surface of the dog park is mostly wood chips and dirt, and gets muddy after a hard rain. The fence encompasses a forest of small trees, which give great shade for the dogs.. Rock boulders give dogs something to climb on, and often are used by the human companion for additional seating. However, benches, are provided along the perimeter of the dog park.
