Saint Andrews Village is a neighborhood in central El Dorado Hills, California which is a small community located 22 miles east of Sacramento. El Dorado Hills is still considered a part of the greater Sacramento Metropolitan Area, but it feels more like its own suburban town. Saint Andrews Village is in a lush, forest-like part of town where homes are built into the hilly landscape and surrounded by trees.
The weather in El Dorado Hills is typical of many northern California towns, which makes it a beautiful place to live almost any time of year. Its average temperatures in the summertime normally have lows in the high 50s and highs in the upper 80s. In the wintertime, it can reach up to the upper 50s on average days. Though the summer days are warm, they are arid with low humidity, so it will be important to keep an eye on your pup's water intake.
The terrain in El Dorado Hills lives up to the name of the town. In Saint Andrews Village, there are several steep hills and dramatic increases in elevation, meaning any walk you take will prove to be a workout for you and your dog. Pendelton Drive, which is one of the main streets in the neighborhood, isn’t overly hilly but some of the streets it branches off to, such as Willowdale Drive, have drastic elevation changes that are emblematic of stereotypical images of Northern California.
Because it is so tucked away from any of the hustle and bustle near Sacramento, there will be little to no traffic within the neighborhood of Saint Andrews Village. El Dorado Hills does have a few small thoroughfares near the center of town, but none of this traffic will be an issue on the streets you will be walking in this particular neighborhood.
There are no parks or greenways within the immediate borders of Saint Andrews Village, but there are several walking options that are adjacent to the neighborhood or within very easy walking distance. Art Weisberg Park is located right at the border of the neighborhood near Pendleton Drive and it is a relatively large community park with ample green space, picnicking areas, and games of horseshoes that are popular with kids and other visitors in the area.
McCabe Park is a smaller park at just 1.3 acres and is located right across the street from Weisberg Park. It has a playground for children, picnic tables, setups for barbecue, and a natural turf area where dogs and children can play. Both of these parks are right next to the boundaries of Saint Andrews Village and they are ideal spots for you and your dog to explore if you are walking in the neighborhood.
