The Park Plaza shopping center has two pet supply stores in close proximity, offering plenty of options for pet needs. The Banfield Pet Hospital is in the northern part of Northwest San Pedro, and the South Shores and Peninsula pet clinics are just outside southern part of the neighborhood just off South Western Avenue. With plenty of places to go and things to see, Northwest San Pedro offers a great place for a walk with your dog in beautiful Southern California.
There are a few very busy roads in the neighborhood that you should take caution when crossing. South Western Avenue is probably the busiest because of highway traffic and North Gaffey Street doesn't have sidewalks, so it's best to avoid walking on the side of those roads. The northern part of Northwest San Pedro is mostly industrial parks and barren mountainous land, so there's no need to walk your pet up there. Otherwise, there is plenty to see.
Averill Park in the southern part of the neighborhood is a pretty space with a large pond and gazebo surrounded by palm trees. A little farther north is Harbor Highlands Park and Gaffey Street Community Gardens: two spaces offering ample space to explore and take in greenery. For some leash-free fun, you can head west of the neighborhood to Knoll Hill Dog Park where you'll find an enclosed mulch-covered area perfect for some high-energy running and playing!
