Wag! Walkers know Heritage Park

Heritage Park is situated just five miles down the road from Steamboat Springs. This tiny, close-knit neighborhood is a wonderful place for families, including the very special family dog. The park, which shares the same name as the community is just across the street from the school and shares a border with the Yampa River, perfect for playing with the kids, exercising the dog, and enjoying the natural beauty of Colorado.

This sweet little neighborhood consists of two streets that loop through the residential area, Brandon Circle and Lindsay Drive. Between the park, school playground, and golf course, there is plenty to keep the whole family busy and tire everyone out. This dog-friendly neighborhood is perfect for a stroll or a game of catch in the park. Neighbors also get together to celebrate special occasions like Halloween, where everyone can roam free at block parties and events.

What is the terrain like in Heritage Park?

Most of the dog walking space in this neighborhood is along Brandon Circle and Lindsay Drive, the two residential streets that run through the area. You'll often see neighbors greeting each other on morning and afternoon dog walks headed to the park with their families.

The park has big, open grassy fields that are often rented in the fall for community soccer events. When not occupied by children wearing shin gaurds and cleats (or adults who still love the game), the fields are a great place to play fetch with a ChuckIt or throw a frisbee around to tire out active pups whose parents are weekend warriors and can't get to the mountains every day. The park and adjacent school playground is the perfect spot for the whole family. If your dog is the second nanny, he'll help you keep watch of your kids as they play on the playground or run through the fields.

How many greenways are there in Heritage Park?

Heritage Park is a small community, but what it lacks in space it makes up for in friendly, quaint charm. Brandon Circle and Lindsay Drive offer the perfect terrain for a quick stroll. The paved walkways make it easy to take the entire family, including the stroller. You'll quickly establish a great routine for stretching both your legs and your dog's legs before and after work.

If the soccer fields are free at Heritage Park, you can take advantage of the grassy, open space for fetch and other rowdy games. You can also walk around the perimeter to feel the grass beneath your feet and smell the sweet air. Just be sure you always pick up your dog's poop and that he knows how to walk on a leash. If he's off-leash he should easily respond to voice commands. Whether you are walking with your family or out for a quick dog walk, this neighborhood is a dog-friendly paradise.
