You will also find the Boardwalk and Daytona Beach Main Street Pier.
To the north along A1A is Bellair Plaza, a shopping center anchored by a Publix grocery store. If you want pet supply stores, you must go back over to the mainland side of town. As for parks, especially dog parks, they too are over on the mainland. The terrain here depends on which side of the building you are standing on. If you are on the east side, your terrain is the soft dry sand near the building or the wet sand by the surf. The soft sand makes a great place for the two of you to walk. It is hard to stroll in and will give everyone's leg muscles a good workout. When you hit the end of your outbound trip, slip over to the wet sand and enjoy walking back in the surf while it cools your feet down.
If you are standing on the west side of the building, your terrain is sidewalks and streets. You can use these to take Fido for walks as well. Just remember that paved surfaces can get fairly hot in this area of Florida after sitting in the midday heat for a few hours. Keep your pup's paws safe by going out before the sun is beating down.

The Timucuans chose to build their village here because of the ample supply of fish in the river and nearby ponds. Today, you and your pooch can take the half-mile nature trail into the forest to see where the village once stood.
