Allen Park is a small community in North Miami made up mostly of single-family homes with numerous businesses along NE 163rd St. and Biscayne Blvd. (US 1). Those who live here tend to keep their yards, homes, and neighborhoods well-kept with plenty sidewalks and grassy areas for you and your pup to go for strolls along. There are dog-friendly parks and stores to buy food, toys, and treats, all within driving distance. There are also several restaurants along the outer edges of the community.

Of course, this area in North Miami enjoys superb weather almost every day of the year. Winters are exceptionally warm with no snow, plenty of rain, and January temperatures that stay in the 60s. Summers are nothing short of spectacular with plenty of humidity, a fair amount of rain, and July highs in the 90s. With almost 250 days of sunshine, very little should ever keep you from getting into the fresh air.

The terrain here in Allen Park is a blend of grass and paved surfaces. There is a vast cemetery in the middle of the community with plenty of pathways running through it, but you may find that walking dogs there is not permitted. The good news is that there are plenty of sidewalks with grass berms to walk on, numerous green spaces to check out along the way, and multiple parks to visit.

No matter where you plan to go walking, you need to understand that once the temperature hits the 80s and above, you should time your walks for early in the morning. The pavement quickly reaches a temperature at which the surface can burn sensitive doggy paws within minutes. Remember that dogs do not sweat and should not be out once the temperature has reached this point unless you have plenty of water to help them stay cool and hydrated.

While many communities in Miami struggle to find even an inch of greenway within their boundaries, Allen Park is not one of them. The first is the community's namesake park, Allen Park. This is a smaller space with enough room for a baseball field and a soccer pitch, but also offer parkings and plenty of grass.

In the far northeast corner is a Silverman Park with a playground, walking trail, and plenty of shade trees for you to relax under. The biggest park, however, is Aqua Bowl Park where there is plenty of places to park, kayaking, canoeing, sailing, and plenty of space for you and your pup to run around and burn off some of those extra donuts you've both been sneaking during your early morning walks. You might be surprised at the number of iguanas inhabiting the park that come out and watch you watching them along with the ducks in the pond.
