Chateau by the Sea is a large condominium complex sitting on the beach close to the Indian River Lagoon Park. Living here offers you the opportunity to enjoy the cool ocean breezes on those 90-degree summer days. The condos are arranged in a U with the open end facing the beach with plenty of lawn space and a large swimming pool from which you and your dog can sit back and watch the sun come up.
Having a condo here also means you are within walking distance of several places to eat for those nights when you really don’t feel like cooking. Living here also means living with a very busy part of the beach on one side and a busy street on the other. This means you will need to be very careful when you take your dog out for daily walks as accidents tend to happen more frequently when traffic is heavy.
No matter which side of your condo you choose for your daily walks with your dog, you are going to be dealing with a lot of vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Although the traffic on the beach typically moves slower than it does out on the street, it seems as though more accidents happen on the sand.
However, the beach is the perfect place for you to take your dog for their daily walks. You have the soft sands that grab at your feet for heavy exercise and then the wet sand gives you an easy way back to your starting point. It also has that added benefit of the water for the two of you to play in and cool off.
Whether you choose to hike the beach or walk on the sidewalks along S Atlantic Avenue, you should try to take your walks early in the morning when there is less traffic for both of you to deal with.
Living here puts you in the middle of two vast green spaces. The beach is, of course, the largest of them with miles of sand for you and your dog to hike along. Alternatively, Smyrna Dunes Park sits at the tip of the peninsula where there are trails to hike along, boardwalks that take you over the delicate flora and fauna, and a beach that is 100% dog-friendly.
On the other side of the peninsula is Indian River Lagoon Park and the Mosquito Lagoon Aquatic Preserve. The park offers trails and shady trees to hike around out of the summer sun. However, if you can teach your dog to sit still in a canoe, this is the way to see all the preserve truly has to offer. This includes a small pod of dolphins who have lived here for a very long time, a small number of Florida Manatees, and incredible waterway scenery.
