If you are an avid golfer, you are going to love living in the Ellison Homes Royal community. Why? Because your biggest next-door neighbor is the New Smyrna Beach Golf Course! This is a public golf course that is open to all ages. The only exception is that your pup is not allowed on the course.
One of the many great things about living here is that you are close to vast green spaces and there are plenty of places to go out for a quick bite to eat or for a proper sit-down meal. Although you are close to US 1, you can enjoy the shops, restaurants, and other businesses that line this very important major thoroughfare.
Living here puts you almost next door to the Doris Leeper Spruce Creek Preserve, an excellent place to take your dog for walks where you can use the shade to get out of the scorching summer sun.
Ellison Homes Royal is part of a larger planned community with modest single-family homes set back from the main road far enough to keep traffic to a minimum. Not only does this make going for walks with your dog safer since there aren't any sidewalks for the two of you to use, but it keeps noise to a minimum. The only real noise you have to deal with is the railroad tracks running alongside the neighborhood.
The area is relatively flat, making walking your dog relatively painless as long as you keep your eyes out for vehicular traffic. This being said, there are enough blocks of housing that you have no reason to go out walking on the main streets unless you are going somewhere specific. However, if you want something besides pavement to walk on, you don’t have far to go to find one of the many entrances to the Spruce Creek Preserve.
Talk about a conundrum! You live next to the golf course, a massive green space in the middle of town, yet your pup is not allowed to use it! The good news is that you are only five minutes away from the 1,600 acres of waterways, marshes, and trails that make up the Doris Leeper Spruce Creek Preserve. The preserve offers you over three miles of trails to wander along and spend time together.
If you are up for a drive, you and your dog should head over to the beach for the morning hours. Here, the two of you can enjoy walking, jogging, or running on miles of beach using the soft sand and wet sand to your advantage in making the most out of your walks. The best time of day to go walking here is in the early morning hours when very few people and cars are on the dunes.
