Lake Waterford Estates is a community of houses situated around the lake towards the outer edge of town. While you might not be close the center of town where all the action is, you are never more than a fifteen-minute drive from essential amenities such as grocery stores, pet supply stores, hardware stores, bars, and restaurants. As a bonus, for those of you with jobs in Orlando, Jacksonville, Daytona, or the Cape, the intersection of SR-44 and I-95 is only five minutes from your doorway.
I-95 might only be five minutes away, but the beach is also less than ten minutes to the east. Living out here gives you the peace and quiet that typically comes with living in the country, while at the same time putting you close to everything you and your dog need including the local dog park where your dog can run around off-leash and play with other canine companions.
The entire community is built around the lake with woods surrounding it. With this, you are living in an area where the only times you are likely to see anything in the way of traffic is during the morning and evening rush hours. Even then, the main road is likely to be relatively quiet with the only traffic being those who live here and the occasional service vehicle, the mail carrier, and the school buses.
The easy way to avoid any problems with traffic is to simply plan to take walks with your dog during any other time of the day. This way, you will only have to deal with a very minimal amount of traffic.
The homes here are set deep in the trees and the area is surrounded by woods. These all offer plenty of shade to help keep you and your dog a little cooler when you are out walking in the hot summer sun.
If you want to take your dog out for walks in the woods, you never have to leave the immediate area. The entire community is surrounded by woods in which you are likely to find any number of trails to walk on that will take you deep into the shade. Be sure you use plenty of mosquito repellent as they tend to be fairly prominent in this muggy area.
You live very close to the New Smyrna Beach Dog Park where you will find two fenced-in areas. One is for larger breed dogs and the other is for the little guys. Each fenced-in section has a water fountain for the pups to help them stay hydrated. For dog owners, there is a covered patio with places to sit and relax out of the sun while your dog enjoys playing with the others in the park for a little while.
