Paquette is a small collection of sizable homes sitting on Art Center Avenue. The entire area around these homes is filled with trees and the forests that indicate the start of the Doris Leeper Spruce Creek Preserve. The trees help to block chilly winter winds and provide plenty of shade all summer long. This should be a peaceful neighborhood, but with US-1 less than a mile away and the New Smyrna Municipal Airport nearby, you can expect a fair amount of noise during the day.

Living out here also puts you far enough out of town that you must drive to find things like groceries and pet supply stores. Art Center Avenue runs from US-1 all the way to Turnbull Bay Park on the water. It tends to be a busy road with the park and a large condominium building at the end of it. Despite the rural setting, you'll need to be extremely cautious on this road.

This is a very rural area with potential for further development. Despite this, the sizes of the homes and lots here are likely to keep that country feeling.  Art Center Avenue is a busy road at times with a condo and park at the end. There are no sidewalks along the road, so you and your dog will be walking on the street. This means wearing reflective or light-colored clothing for your safety.

You aren't likely to have to deal with much in the way of pedestrian traffic during your walks. That is, unless there are others out walking at the same time. If you head east on Art Center Avenue and then go south on Brookline Avenue, you and your dog will be going into a quiet residential area with several blocks you can add to your walks. This is a very safe area for you and your pup to take your daily strolls.

Living out on the edge of town puts you where there are currently a lot of green spaces in the form of undeveloped land still covered in woods. Most of these are private property and should be treated as such. But at the end of Art Center Drive is the Turnbull Bay Park where you and your dog can play around and maybe even go for a swim to cool off on a scorching summer day.

Living here puts you within five minutes of the entrance to the Doris Leeper Spruce Creek Preserve. Spanning 1,637 acres, the park offers over three miles of trails, an observation tower, fishing opportunities, and a wonderful place to take your pooch for a walk in the shade when the sun is beating down from above. Be sure you climb the observation tower that looks out over the swamps on your way to Rose Bay to enjoy the interesting views.
