Ronan is a small community of single-family homes located right on the beach. Being on the coast is probably the main highlight of living here. However, being close enough to some of the best restaurants in town to walk to them isn't so bad either. Along with that, you are close to a Walgreens and a Publix grocery store where you can buy many brands of dog food.

If you want a place besides the sandy dunes nearby to go play, Smyrna Dunes Park is only a few minutes away.

With summer temperatures in the upper 80s and low 90s, living on the beach is the place to be. The water is typically around 80 degrees and feels amazing after taking Fido for their daily walk. But when it's almost 70 degrees in January, there is no reason why you and your pooch can't still get out and go for your daily walks whenever you need to!

Living in Ronan offers you and your pooch a choice of terrain for your daily walks. You can cross S Atlantic Ave and use the sidewalks and numerous residential blocks for your walks. These streets are smaller and easier to navigate, though going too far and ending up at the edge of Highway A1A and E 3rd Avenue can present you with heavy traffic during rush hour, or high-speed traffic during other times of day. This may be an area you want to avoid.

Alternatively, you can walk over to the beach and make use the sand dunes which roll up and down the entire length of it. Cars are allowed to drive right onto the coast, so you'll need to keep an eye out for vehicles. However, venture close enough to the water's edge and you'll have more than enough space to keep your dog occupied and happy as they run up and down along the expanse.

The beach is, by far, one of the largest open spaces here running for many miles in either direction. If you and Fido like to get out on the water in a canoe, Mosquito Lagoon Aquatic Preserve may be a better alternative, providing waterways which can be traveled down via canoe or kayak.

Taking a drive ten minutes to the north will bring you to Smyrna Dunes Park, one of the only dog-friendly county parks. This space offers nature trails that will take walkers through five different ecosystems such as oceanfront, sand dunes, saltwater marsh, muddy riverbanks, and scrublands. The trails include two miles of elevated walkways that let you see these ecosystems without damaging them. The beach is also dog-friendly, so you and your pup can cool off in the inlet at the end of your day of play before you head home.
