Kingston Shores is a 106-unit two-story condominium community located between John Anderson Blvd and the A1A. It is the last community to the north before you drive out of Ormond Beach on your way to Flagler Beach. The buildings are set beside a greenway that stretches for a couple of miles or more along A1A to the north and the Coquina Key neighborhood to the south. There are pet shops, dog-friendly parks, and great places to eat all within driving distance.

The climate here is moderate in the winter with lows in the mid-40s, which means you should be able to take your pup out for walks most days without too much trouble. However, summer highs routinely hit the 90s which may be a bit too hot for your dog to go out in. To avoid this, you should try to get out for your walks in the early morning hours.

The terrain in Kingston Shores is a blend of parking lots and open grassy areas. The grass expanses are large enough for you and your dog to spend time playing around on. There are sidewalks running between the buildings, but there really isn't much of anywhere to walk your pup within the community. If you want more of a challenge in the terrain, you and your pooch will have to go outside of the neighborhood.

Being between the Halifax River and the Atlantic Ocean offers you a choice of terrain ranging from wet hard-packed sand at the ocean's edge to scrub and soft sands closer to the A1A. Each provides a different challenge for your walks with the soft sand working your ankles and calves, and your pup's ankles, knees, and hips. The wet sand makes for soft, but comfortable walks. Why not go one direction in the soft sand and then come back on the wet sand?

On the northern edge of this condo community is a vast area of scrub that runs all the way from Kingston Shores to Ocean Palms Villa. This area is filled with trails you and your dog can spend hours wandering along as you check out the local wildlife. This greenway covers the entire area between the A1A and the Halifax River. There is a trail that runs down the middle of the area all the way to High Bridge Road. While you and your pooch might not be up to the distance at first, with a little repetitive walking, it shouldn't be long before you are making the hike to the end and back.

On the other side of the Halifax River, you can take your dog for walks in Bulow State Park where there are miles of nature trails where you and your pooch can wander around in the shade.
