The community of Cypress Head incorporates the golf course by the same name. There are hundreds of homes out here on the other side of I-95. The houses are arranged in smaller communities around the various fairways and greens. No matter where you live, you are bound to be on one or the other, if not both. The only bad thing is that no matter which part of the golf course you live on, you will not be able to take your dog out for walks on it.

With South Williamson Boulevard close by, you are only minutes from your driveway. This road will take you to the I-95 interchange where you will find plenty of shopping. The further east you go on Dunlawton Avenue, the more big-box retailers, supermarkets, superstores, pet supply stores you will find with lots of fantastic places for you and your family to go out for a meal when no one feels like cooking.

Throughout the Cypress Head community, you will find that the only times there is any traffic to speak of is during the morning and evening rush hours. The rest of the day, the only other traffic you may run into is the occasional golf cart cruising by. Thankfully, there are plenty of sidewalks in each neighborhood for you to walk on and grass berms for your dog to use.

You could realistically walk from Pioneer Trail to Airport Road if you and your pooch are up for the challenge. Along the way, no matter, where you choose to walk, the two of you are going to run into pedestrians as this is a fairly crowded neighborhood. How you decide to handle this is entirely up to you and how well your dog does with strangers. A short leash for your pup and firm, but friendly instructions for anyone you pass will make each encounter safe for everyone.

Living in Cypress Head can be fairly difficult for those who love to explore as you are surrounded by green space in the form of roughs, fairways, and greens, but you and your dog are not allowed anywhere near them!

Thankfully, a short drive east on Pioneer Trail takes you to the turnoff for the Doris Leeper Spruce Creek Preserve. This vast nature preserve offers you and your pup over 1,600 acres of Florida wetlands and forest to hike through. There are plenty of trails to check out, including one that you can use to go all the way to New Smyrna Beach. It's a round-trip of six-miles through some fantastic scenery and you never know which of the local inhabitants you might happen to come across on your way! Be sure to stop at the lookout tower and climb up to the top. It's only 15 feet, but the view out over the swamps is worth the effort!
