Highpoint Acres is a large residential area close to Spruce Creek and within eyesight of I-95. The closest major road is Taylor Road to the north. The community features large luxurious homes with big shady yards in a semi-exclusive neighborhood of quiet cul-de-sacs. In fact, the only people who should be here are residents.

Nearby Taylor Road takes you to the intersection of Dunlawton Avenue and I-95. From here, you can take the interstate north all the way up into Maine or south to Miami. It also connects with I-4 which takes you to Orlando and Tampa. The intersection is home to several strip malls where you can find just about everything you could ever need.

For those who like the idea of being able to take their pups out for walks in nature, there are parks, nature preserves, wildlife management areas, and the beach, all within a twenty-five-minute driving radius of your home.

Highpoint Acres and the surrounding neighborhoods are a true representation of suburban America. Most of the homes around the area are "cookie cutter" style on single-lots on row after row of similar streets. There are sidewalks for you and your dog to take your daily walks on. Some areas offer shady roads, while others have very little in the way of trees to help keep the sun off your head.

For the bulk of the day, this is your typical suburban community. But twice each day during the morning and evening rush hours, the traffic gets a little on the hectic side with everyone rushing to work or home. You should also be aware that, during the school year, the buses come through twice a day. Keep an eye out for children crossing the streets and other vehicles that may be in the vicinity as you're on your stroll.

The one thing missing in the immediate area is usable green space. There is Spruce Creek, but as a tidal river, the banks are usually a little too muddy for you to walk on. Five minutes to the east is the Seemore Memorial Dog Park and the All Children's Park-Spruce Creek Park. The dog park covers a large area and offers separate fenced-in areas for large and small breeds. Each of the areas has a watering station and plenty of shade.

Alternatively, if you are up for the drive west, you can use US-92 to head to the Tiger Bay and Tomoka Wildlife Management Area that covers over 30,000 acres of Volusia County. The WMA stands in testament to the hard work and dedication of park employees and countless volunteers to keep it in its current condition. There are miles of trails to enjoy hiking on and a seemingly endless list of local wildlife to be on the lookout for.
