Sitting on the northeast corner of South Nova Road and Dunlawton Avenue, Park Place Plaza is a large strip mall with multiple local and chain stores. Behind the plaza is Memorial Park, a large lake with a walkway around it. On the other side of the lake is a sizeable residential community, with many more to the north on South Nova Road.
If you need more shopping than there is in the Park Place Plaza, there are more places to shop on the other three corners. These include a Publix Supermarket and a Pet Supermarket where you can buy food for everyone in your family, including your canine companion.
Along with the lake, the City Center Athletic Center and Sports Fields are within walking distance. The beach is less than ten minutes to the east over the Halifax River. The city dog park is ten minutes to the south on Spruce Creek Boulevard and the Tiger Bay Wildlife Management Area is only twenty-five minutes west.
What is the terrain like in Park Place Plaza?
The plaza itself is fully paved and has nothing to offer for you and your dog, but right behind the shopping center is Memorial Park. This is a large man made lake that features a walking trail that goes all the way around it. You and your dog can go for walks around this at any time of the day!
Keep in mind that both South Nova Road and Dunlawton Avenue are bustling highways that see steady traffic from early morning to late at night. Unless you have a good reason to do so, you should not be taking your dog for walks along either of these roads. Thankfully, you can take your pooch for walks in the community to the north of the plaza instead!
Here, you will find flat sidewalks for you and your dog to use and far less traffic to deal with. You will have pedestrians to deal with, but a short leash can make these interactions pleasant for everyone!

Ten minutes to the east on Dunlawton Avenue is the best place in town to take your dog for a walk: the beach! The best part is that you can drive right out on the sand and park your car. From here, you can choose between the soft sand that will give everyone's leg muscles a good workout or the wet sand that is much easier to walk on. Both of these options can make your walks fun and a great way to spend time together in the fresh air and sunshine!
