Pheasant Run is a residential community of single-family homes sitting on Taylor Road. Living here puts you in a good location for shopping and schools. Both the Spruce Creek Elementary and Spruce Creek High Schools are on the same road. The elementary school is immediately to the east on Taylor Road while the high school is two blocks to the west on the same road.

For those who love to shop or dine out, West Port Square and a vast array of shops and restaurants lie just to the west on the other side of I-95. The area also includes movie theaters and much more for you and your family to enjoy.

While Port Orange does not have any direct beach access, it's only a fifteen-minute drive to the east on Dunlawton Avenue. You and your dog can have a great time out in the fresh air and sunshine strolling along looking for seashells.

The land here is very flat and, while this is a residential neighborhood, Taylor Road is a bustling four-lane throughway. The neighborhoods around here tend to be very quiet most of the day but, be prepared, as during morning and evening rush hour, the traffic can be hectic. You should also be careful when the school buses are running. Not only does this add more vehicular traffic, but it adds in a lot of kids on the sidewalks heading to or from the bus.

Finding places to walk safely can be challenging as only some of the blocks have sidewalks for the two of you to use. Pheasant Run itself ends in a cul-de-sac which goes a long way towards keeping traffic near your home to a minimum. If you do plan to use the roads and sidewalks to take your pooch out for their daily walks, be sure you keep them on a short leash for added safety.

There is a large open field to the south that, while fenced off from Hensel Road, does seem to be a favorite place for people to take their dogs out to play. Keep in mind this is private property and you and your dog may not be welcome.

If you and your dog don't mind going for a ride in the car, the Tiger Bay State Forest and Tomoka Wildlife Management Areas are 20 minutes to the west on SR-92. The WMA covers approximately 30,000 acres of forests, waterways, lakes, and more for you and your dog to go hiking in. There are miles of trails for both of you to enjoy sharing with other dog walkers, hikers, and cyclists. It's a great place to go for long hikes in the fresh air and you never know what you might see along the way!
