A lively neighborhood that lies in the far north of Atlanta is Collier Hills North. Situated in the Fulton County, it has a lot to offer from bars and restaurants to coffee shops. The community is rather affluent with most residents residing here and then commuting into downtown Atlanta for work. This creates an atmosphere that is sleepy during the day and active at night, giving off a great community feel.
There are plenty of puppy-friendly facilities surrounding Collier Hills. PetSmart and Petco Animal Supplies are situated on the border for the neighborhood. They provide everything from pet food to toys and even grooming services, priding themselves on their friendly but knowledgeable staff.
The classic Atlanta weather keeps the community warm all year round with summer temperatures reaching 95 degrees. The seasons are distinct with leaves turning from golds to reds and oranges in autumn and then flourishing into vibrant greens in early spring.
The location of Collier Hills North lends to the balanced feel between urbanised and natural. Each house sits a little back from the road with space for a drive and a front yard. The wide open streets are lined with sidewalks adding to the ease of walking through the neighborhood. The well-kept flowers and trees that sit in between each home create a natural feel while the picket white fences add to the affluence of the community.
Around the neighborhood, the roads all offer either a flat or shallow incline. This mirrors that natural topography of Atlanta, a fairly hilly city due to its proximity to the Appalachian Mountains. This is something to consider when walking your pup around the neighborhood.
The ideal spot to take your pooch is a walk down Collier Road. Here, you can see the gigantic classic Georgian homes, a real historic tribute to the old style Atlanta neighborhood.
There are many greenways in the area. The most popular to the community of Collier Hills North is Tanyard Creek Park and Tanyard Creek Urban Forest. This park and forest is situated to the northwest of the community and boasts everything from woodland walking trails, picnic benches, and footpaths that run across the edge of the creek. The park is perfect for your pup's daily walk and the footpaths that wind through it do not take up more than 25 minutes walking time. If this wasn’t enough, the North Side Trail leads you onto a longer hike through the whole of the park and finishes in the urban forest.
If you fancy a lengthier weekend walk, the Atlanta Memorial Park is the ideal spot. It holds 200 acres of green space in which the Peachtree Creek runs. This park is situated just north of the community and is only a five-minute walk away. Facilities include nature trails and children playgrounds.
