In the central part of Lake View East is Wigglyville, Inc., a pet store selling natural foods and toys. Paradise Pet Salon & Spa Too!, a groomer that also offers doggie spa treatments, sits just outside the neighborhood's northern border.

As a typical city neighborhood, Lake View East features apartment buildings overlooking tree-lined streets. Many of the sidewalks have strips of grass to the side, and there are small parks scattered throughout the neighborhood. Lake View East is diverse in nature and there are busy areas offering entertainment and restaurants while there are quiet, more residential parts as well. The busiest streets are North Halsted and North Broadway. While they have more storefronts and attractions, make sure to watch your dog around these areas as they can become crowded with cars, pedestrians, and bikers. The streets in between are quieter and shadier if you're looking for a more peaceful and relaxing walk.

Lake View East sits directly on Lake Michigan, so it's naturally flat. No need to worry about steep hills on a walk in this neighborhood! The neighborhood is about a mile-and-a-half long, making it very easy to see the whole community in one walk.

There aren't any very large parks in Lake View East, but you'll most likely happen upon one of the small parks throughout the neighborhood. Evergreen Park and Wendt Playlot Park are two small playgrounds in Lake View East, and while they don't have much green space, they are shady places to stop that children will love.

On the east side of Lake View East is Belmont Harbor and its surrounding green spaces, from golf courses to grassy patches. Take your pet to Belmont Harbor Dog Beach where you can let them run leash-free through the sand and water. The beach is a popular spot for dogs and their owners on the weekend but is quieter on weekdays. A part of Lakefront Trail also passes by Lake View East. While it welcomes pets on leashes, the trail can get crowded with bikers, runners, and more, so watch your pet during busier days.
