The community of O'Hare is located to the east of O'Hare International Airport and is comprised of a blend of single-family homes, apartments, and condos. This neighborhood also includes the Forest Preserves of Cook County, the Catherine Chevalier Woods, and a number of hotels and other businesses. You won't have any problem finding a place to eat thanks to the proximity of the airport, and if the woods and trails aren't enough, there are plenty of blocks with sidewalks to stroll along. The only hard part of living in this neighborhood, is the noise from the constant stream of airplanes landing and taking off at the airport.

If you like winter weather, Chicago is the place to be. The temperatures here spend more time below freezing than above it during the dead of winter and, with up to 35 inches of snow, plus lake effect snow and ice, Chicago is a winter lover's paradise.

The terrain in the residential section of O'Hare is essentially as flat as the ground under the runways of the airport. The big difference is that the streets are not as wide and they have sidewalks to walk on. As an added bonus, you don't have to play chicken with the airplanes.

Doesn't sound like much fun? Then you are not thinking far enough outside of the box. How can you not find ways to get in plenty of exercise with so many blocks of residential area to walk around? No matter where you take your walks, be sure you keep them on a leash and take bags with you to clean up after them.

Exercise caution in the summer as the pavement can become hot enough to burn your dog's paw pads. To avoid this, you should plan your walks for earlier in the mornings to ensure the pavement is still nice and cool.

Within the actual residential areas of the community, there is very little in the way of green space beyond a couple of small ballparks. But who needs small parks when your entire community sits on the edge of the acres of woods separating the community from the airport?

The woods are split into two sections by Highway 19. To the north is the Catherine Chevalier Woods that covers over 8,000 acres both inside and outside of Cook County running alongside the Des Plaines River. There are miles of trails for you to explore and a huge population of grazing deer to watch.

The other side of Highway 19 is covered by Schiller Woods South that covers 284 acres and offers more trails and plenty of shade for some very pleasant walks in the summer. This park has a few small hills that make is a very popular sledding venue in the winter.
